Hong Kong is a massive, over-populated city with too much to do in two weeks. We tried our best to fit everything in but as we were staying with people we knew (Lisa's family), there was even more they wanted us to do.
One of the first things we did was visit Lamma Island, This is nice place to walk around with good views and a relativly nice beach would you believe. Also my first taste of some food to come... tip of the iceberg. On reflection coming here was a great break from being in the city the while time (although it was one of the first things we did). Very strange things happen in Hong Kong, Women take their dogs on trips to this island and around the city in prams and dress them up, we saw maids fighting in the street over something i imagine to be trivial but maybe quite serious. Hopefully not. Was very funny none the less.
The sites in Hong Kong are great, the night light show on christmas day was especially good. We had a brilliant view from the top of a 14 storey building. This is not your average Christmas, Neither was Christmas dinner... About 8 courses of not knowing what was going on involving shark fin soup, goose feet (I didn't go for that one), deep fried milk, octopus etc. This was not the end of our eating extraveganzas. We later met one of Lisa's cousins who owned a fish farm. I do not know what I ate that night, some of it was surprising tasty, some apparently very expensive, and sometimes I was laughed at for my various facial expression (which had been largely toned down in an effort to be polite).
The only other time we got out of the city was to go to Ray's (Lisa's Dad) village. It was very interesting, they spoke their own language in a very small ccommunity where I was called "Ghost Woman".
Lisa's other cousin, Alan, showed us the nightlife side of Hong Kong. As we had a guide it was difficult to go to the wrong places. This resulted in us having a good time everytime we went out. From the expensive busy areas such as Lang Kwai Fong (definately spelt right, don't correct me), to the lesser known areas such as... I don't have a clue where we were...
We got heavily tricked into spending a night on a boat... I'm sure free drinks was mentioned but when I got there it was a different story, very suspiscious. Other than that we were going to go to Macaw and jump off the tower but after our trip to ocean park and a particular ride, we didnt (check freddys photos).
All in all, good fun but very busy.
