Whats up family and friends! Finally have a bit of spare time to make my first entry since i set up this blog site. Last few days have been a bit hectic as myself and Cormac found out that we had jobs as the new milkmen in Christchurch on tuesday.
Arrived in Christchurch on tuesday evening, and yes i am aware that it is earthquake central of our ever evolving planet at the moment. But even if i had not been aware of this fact before i arrived here i was greeted with a sharp awakening after only been here 30 minutes. Suddenly a ten second, vicious 5.3 magnitude earthquaked tore through the suburbs of Christchurch causing freaking the hell of Cormac and i, causing us to flee the house as if it was on fire!!
Started my work as your modern day milky yesterday. in two days of work i have earned $250 dollars commission, not bad eh! I'm not actually a milkman though, basically i'm a salesman doing door to door work promoting the new milkman service which will also include all your basic groceries. It's an easy job and lets you meet the real people of New Zealand. The people here are so welcoming and the irish accent goes down a treat. I'm often invited into peoples houses for a cup of tea even if they are not interested in the product. Heading back to Queenstown tomo for a night out with Peadar and Paul as they are just afer arrriving there.
Talking about Queenstown i better mention the first week i spent on my the journey of discovery. I left Ireland on friday the 10th of june 2011 and did not arrive into Queenstown till tuesday the 14th at 0130 in the morning. We were delayed for one day in Sydney due to the ash cloud from bloody Chile of all places! We had seven great nights in Queenstown before we got our jobs as milkies. Although we didnt go out every night, the hostel we stayed in Nomads, was absolutely awesome! It was like a 5 star hotel, cinema room, sauna, savage kitchen and the cosiet living room of all time! Sorry for the length of this blog, i know these things are meant to be short but this is my first entry and i had to summarise my first two weeks of traveling.
