My dear family, friends and blog readers, I humbly apologise for the lack of blog entries and general travel updates over the past four months. The time has finally arrived where I can comfortably fill all of you in on exactly what has happened over the past three months as I know many rumors have been flying around. Some of the funnier ones that I have picked up through the grapevine are that I have become a priest, that I am in a cult, that I have completely lost my mind and a few others that I cant quite recall right now. Obviously none of the above are true and ye would wanna be very naïve to believe any of them especially if you have known me for many years! The truth is that I have given my heart to the lord and in other words that means I have been baptized a Christian an have been one for almost three months now. I can honestly say that I have never been happier and I hope you will be able to understand why as I recount this amazing journey in my life that has lead me here over the last few month. Plus those of you who judge me for being a Christian I ask you to seek wisdom and try realize that other than a few adjustments to my lifestyle I have not changed and im still largely the same immature, passionate, care free, funny and honest son, brother and friend. I hope you enjoy my testimony as that is what this ultimately is. Plus in reading this I hope I can prove and show many of you that Christianity is really coolJ!
I'm gonna start my testimony in Stratford (in which if any of you read my last blog a number of months ago) where I first me Mary. Shortly after lunch on what had been a relatively slow day I managed to stop a beautiful lady who was walking past me in a hurry. She tried get away but I walked along side her claiming to be the fastest Irish man she would ever meet as she had said she was in a hurry. This caused her to stop and was followed by her turning to me with a wide and welcoming smile which I used as the perfect opportunity to start my pitch campaigning against deep sea oil drilling in New Zealand. She listened to me attentively as I passionately presented the case against deep sea oil drilling which was a campaign that at the time I had just started to take personally. The reason for this was that days earlier I had the revelation that I had fallen in love with New Zealand so much that I planned on settling down here eventually. As a result I began to realise that if there was ever a big oil spill in the future it would directly effect my livelihood and future family as I planned on living by the beach running some sort of a surf yoga retreat or cafe. As I went about signing up for Greenpeace she suddenly told me to chill on the passion as I was wasting my energy since I had already convinced her to sign up. She followed up on this informing me that I reminded her of a younger version of her and that I needed to be very careful to use my energy sustainably or I would burn myself out. In saying this she gave me a sudden revelation as from the age of thirteen I had continuously been suffering from burnouts as for a months or weeks at times I would be full of energy and then out of nowhere I would crash and I could never understand why till now. These burnouts often lead into weeks of depression that I could never understand and figure out untill now. As I explained to her about my burnouts she informed me that she had suffered from similar burnouts and bouts of depression in her younger years also. She next went on to suddenly ask me about my spirituality and this really took me by surprise! I stuttered through an answer about being brought up Catholic yet after six years in a benedicting monk run boarding shcool I had come out as good as atheist. As a resulf I told her I kind of believed in some form of mother earth energy spiritual thing. I was more into hinduism and buddhism that Christianity and the Catholic Church. I told her that the reason I was as good as atheist was because the Catholic Church had put me right off God due to all the horrible s*** that has happened in Ireland and other countries down the years and the shocking hypocricy of the Vatican! As I stumbled through this answer I ended saying I was pretty much not spiritual at all and that overall I felt life was short so get the most out of it and enjoy the ride while it lasted. I also told her that to be fully honest I had know interest in spirituality and that any time a spiritual conversation ma have arised amony my friends down the years I tended to avoid it. All this time she simply nodded and told me nothing. After our good long chat we finally parted ways with her giving me her number and email address and asked me keep in contact.
After parting ways with Mary I had to sit and chill for a while as she had pinpointed part of my character that I had been trying to understant for almost ten years to no avail. It all came down to my energy which I have an super natural amount of when I'm on the up. Subsequenttly I suddenly realised that I had to sustain this awesome energy more effectively or I would keep have burnouts and bouts of depression throughout my life. With this revelation spinning though my head along with the spiritual questions she had asked me I quickly became a bit of a mess and was not able to work for the rest of the days. Consequently after a chat with Shai in which I informed him of the extraordinary conversation with Mary we decided to finish work early that day. That day something happened in life that I can now look back on with absolute amazement and will fill you in on exactly what this was later on in my testimony.
The following few days we worked in New Plymouth where I got some great surf in and gave Shai his first surf lesson. The following week we made our way over to Whakatane and started to work our way through the towns around the Bay of Plenty. After a week in the Bay of Plenty we worked towards The Coromandel where we also campaigned for a week. It was in The Coromandel in a town called...... where I signed up Paul. Paul was another extraordinary person who had a massive impact on my spiritual jounery leading up to Christmas. While working I had suddenly seen Paul crossing the road so I went about waving at him cheerfully and calling him over to me although it appeared he was heading straight for me anyway. Now first of all I must say that I love weird people as I am one myself and your always guananteed an awesome conversation with a weirdo as they always have a unique story to tell and are never boring. When Paul finally jumped over the fence guarding the path from the road he immediatly went about shaking my hand and introducing himself while simultaneously studying my every detail with his freaky and intense eyes. Onec we had the introduction out of the wa I started inot my passionate pitch against deep sea oil drilling but this was suddenly unterrupted by Paul. Put of nowhere he told that his the spirits of his ancestors had told him to come over and talk to me as he was queing in the post office. There is weird and then there is another level and this guy suddenly reached a level of abnormal thay I was yet to encounter in my life. But I held myself together as he started talking to me about himself, his life and his spirits. The reason being was that I was genuinely interested and this was one of those once in a life time conversations that are as good as gold dust. We sat together for around thrity minutes and he poured out his heart to me about his life, how he had been kicked out of the navy, bullied from a young age, seen spirits and demons since he was a young child and had been tortured. It was an intense yet beautiful insight into a mans traumatic life. He finished up his brief life summary telling me that he was psychic and that he would love to do a reading of me. This shocked me a little but I was keen to get a physchic reading from to see what he had to say about me. He then gently went about holding both my hands and closing his eyes for around two minutes. I patietly waited untill he eventually opened his eyes and smiled brightly at me. He then sais that his ancestor had beenright about me. I asked him to explain a little confused myself about what this meant. He then told me that I was a beautiful human being with a heart for helping people. He told me that I was sensitive, caring, energetic and loved to help people. This seemed pretty accurate. As awesome and as good company as Paul was I had a job to do so I finished signing him up for GP and we agreed that Shai and I would visit him after work at his house for a quick coffee before we hit the road.
Once we finished work we immediately made our way over to Pauls house. Shai was a little skeptical about the guy but warmed to him straight away once we arrived. Paul was a very paranoid individual mostly due to his traumatic life yet he willing opened up to Shai and I over a cup of coffee and told us an in depth version of his life story. Afterwords he carried out a reading on both of us. Once finished he exclaimed that he was delighted to have met both of us as we were both very special individuals. He added a bit more to my reading earlier claiming that my ying and yang was not balanced and to balance iti needed to learn to love myself before others if I was to reach my full potential. By loving myself I would be able to love others even more which made sense. He also said that my heart was in pain for humanity and the planet. He also said there was a powerful warrior spirit inside of me. He gave Shai an in depth reading too. We eventually parted ways promising to keep in touch which we unfortunately didnt.
Once we left Shai and I discussed thoroughly our meeting with Paul. It turns out that Shai is very spiritual also and had met many people like Paul before. He told me that his parents were spiritual healers and that they healed people through music. He shared a number of experiences with alongwith his spiritual beliefs. One memory I have of this conversation was his adventures with the Mayans in Guatamala. He had stayed with them and had a number of incredible experiences with them that I wont share here out of respect for my good friend Shai. Yet as you can imagine with this sudden spitual awakening in me Shai had a large influence over me as he had been born into an extremely spiritual environment. That night our friend Selva joined us in The Coromandel and we stayed the night on a beach. We continued to work our way through The Coromandel for the rest of the week before finishing up and heading up to Northlands that weekend.
We arrived into Whangerai on the saturday after collecting another GP frontliner called Harris on the way up. Harris had been with GP for six months and I had worked with him for my first three weeks in Wellington. He is from Vancouver, has big loopy ears an tattoos covering his whole body. A cool guy and I got on well with him. The following two weeks the three of us campaigned our way through Northlands which is my favourite part of NZ as its untouched, under populated, covered in indigenous bush, beautiful beachs, ancient forrests with some of the biggest trees in the world and honest and beautiful people. Northlands has a rule of its own and the NZ goverement ha no control up there. Not many people pay taxes up there and the Maori tribes are the ones who hold the power and control. I love the Maori people and got on very well with them especially the Maori in Northlands. As a result I got my second tattoo while in Whangerai, a Maori one. It flows out of the tatttoo I got in Hawaii a few years ago and ends on my ribs with a map of Fountainstown Bay where I grew up. My older brother Will drew the map for me and I can now look down any tiim I miss home. Plus ill never forget where I came from.
The towns we worked in include Whangerai, Warksworth, Wellsford, Dargaville, Kerikeri, . I fell in love with a number of places in Northlands but mostly with Shipwrecks Bay at the bottom of ninety mile beach. This place is spectacular and if I ever have it my way ill build a house there. One memorable experience while in Northlands was when we visited Cape Reinga. This is the most northly point of NZ and where the Pacific meets the Tasman. In Maori culture it is the location where the spirits of their dead pass into the underworld. It is a very spiritual place and we were blessed with the weather we got on the day we visited. It had been extremely foggy on the way up but after walking out to the cape the fog cleared to reveal the most beautiful view I have ever witnessed. In front of us we were witnessing energy like no other a storm from the pacific colliding with a storm from the tastman sending waves fifty feet into the air. I have witnessed massive storms down my years including hurricanes yet I have have never seen the ocean look this intimidating and powerful. After staring at this ferocity for a while we all decided to sit and practice a bit of meditation as we were all pretty spiritual. There was myself, Shai, Harris and Selva. We sat together meditating on the waves for almost an hour and I found it to be a very enjoyable and relaxing expereince. Once we left the cape we made our way down to ninety mile beach to go sandboarding. This involves bodyboarding down giant sanddunes that are at least a hundread metres in height. We would reach close to 40kmph cruising down these hills, a serious thrill!
The following week which was the second week in december the three of us found ourselves working in a lovely town called Kerikeri. It was in Kerikeri that at different times the three of us walked into a crystal, new age healing shop while campaigning. It was pretty funny to be honest as I walked in first followed by Shai ten minutes later and lastly Harris. None of us knew that we were all gonna end up in there at the same time and it just so happened that we were all very interested in this new age stuff. On entering I immediatly had an odd looking lady approach. She had these intense and almost dazzling eyes and was probably in her mid forties. Once we had a bit of small talk out of the way I started opening up to her about what had been happening to me over the past two months beginning with my run in with Mary and how that triggered something in my spirit. I told her all about Paul and a number of other very spiritual people I had met while working for GP over the past few weeks. She didnt seem in the slightest bit taken aback by any of the information I shared with her. Once I had finished talking she simply said that it was quite astonishing how quickly I was spiritually developing. She gave me some advice told me to be careful and then decided to introduce me to one of her fellow employees called Mark.
I called back into the shop around three hours later to meet Mark. Mark looked in his mid forties and had an open and honest looking face. He smiled brightly as I approached him shaking my hand and introducing himself. I repeated to him what I had told the lady earlier that day and as I talked I noticed a change in his eyes to one of wonder and real interest in me and apparently the story I was telling me. Once I had finished he went about telling me how to meditate and that I was quite a special young man with a vey powerful spirit. He said he did not have time to to talk to me about everything he needed to tell me straight away both because it would be a bit overwhelming and he was booked up for the rest of the day. As a result we agreed to meet the following week in a cafe in Pahia where he lived as I was due to be working there with GP.
I eventually met Mark once again five days later in a lovely seaside cafe in Pahia. We immediatly picked up on where we had left off. He started doing a pyschic spirit reading of me which was similar to what Paul had done yet Mark was far calmer and professional than paul as it was his full time job doing this sort of stuff. He started to tell me that there was the spirit of a doctor around me after which I told him that all my ancestors on my dads had been doctors and that my grandad had been a medical profesor. He then told me a whole bunch of other far out stuff that I dont really feel like sharing right now. But what I can say is that he told me that I was gonna be a healer and that with my energy and the spirit of the doctor guiding me I would be able to lay my hands on people and cure them of cancer among other things. I was obviously very taken aback by this. One other key thing he told me was that 2012 was gonna be a very important year in my life and that I was gonna massive role in what was coming. He also told me that in three weeks from that day I was gonna change my direction massively. I would be going one way and then suddenly out of the blue my life would completly change forever. I took everything he said to me with a pinch of salt and walked away a bit overwhelmed yet rather excited.
The following week the three of us found ourselves back in Auckland after three enjoyable weekd of hard campaigning in Northlands. On the friday night of that week which was the 23rd we attended the GP xmas party in Mt Eden. This was a great night although I had to hit the sack a bit early due to having a few cheeky drinks too many. I awoke on the saturday morning and was invited by Selva to join her for a Thai Chi lesson in one of the parks in Auckland. I was well keen as this was something I had wanted to do for a long time especially since I had been getting so much into Yoga. The class was nothing short of amazing and it seemed to come really naturally to me. I simply flowed through all the exercises as if I had done them many times before and felt this awesome energy just bursting through me and out of my hands. Once the class was over I approached the instructor to get a bit of advice from him. On telling him it was my first class he was very surprised and I also asked him to hover his hands over mine to feel the energy come out of them. He drew his hands back in amazement claiming that I had very powerful energy. He told me that once a learned how to to use this energy I would be able to lay my hands on people and heal them which confirmed what Mark had told me the week before. At this stage of my spiritual walk I was getting used to hearing these kind of comments yet I really felt inspired by what this instructor told me. I walked away from that class with my head held high dreaming about how I would be able to help and heal people all over the world with my hands once I learn to harness my energy.
On the monday morning Shai and I parted for Hamilton and eventually made it to Wellington on the wednesday evening where we finished up for our xmas holidays. The three months that I had spent with GP leading up to then were nothing short of an amazing ride and a real voyage of discovery. Yet what I didnt realise at the time was that my voyage had just begun, had only discovered minor parts of the truth and I most definatly did not know who I was or what my role was. Over the past two months I had been keeping in contact with Mary ever few weeks filling her in on my adventures and all the experiences I was having especially the spiritual ones. In our last few emails to one another she had been warning me to be very careful as I was walking a dangerous path and opening doors that should not be opened. I had no idea what she was talking about at the time yet my intuition told me that I aught to meet up with her once my holidays began. As my spiritual journey kind of began with here I really felt to meet up with her. Therefore on the thursday morning I left Wellington and made my way to Stratford to meet up with Mary.
I'm gonna cut the story here and pick up again next week as I dont wanna give ye all the information at once as it can be a bit overwhelming to read and believe. Therefore enjoy this part of my experience and I'll write up whats happened since I met Mary next week. Enjoy readers!!
