Hey all!
Back again to continue with my Philippino Xmas adventure, and next Island up is Palawan, specifically Puerto Princesca!
So this was a true test for me as it is the first time I have been away completely on my own. I must say, I think i did pretty well, and definatly caught up on a lot of sleep as I didn't have anyone to hang out with, haha you think I am pretty sad don't you. Well actually it was a pretty good 5 days. I arrived at the resort on monday afternoon and signed up for pretty much all the tours around so I could make the most of my stay and meet some new people.
I was staying near the city and the resort itself was very nice, and really great for the price. The first tour I did on the Monday evening was the firefly watching tour. We left at about 6pm and got a car to the habour where we were taken on a boat across to a river, it was here we disembarked (cool word hey) onto a smaller vessel and were rowed to the spots to see the fireflies, it was pretty cool actually. They looked like Xmas tree lights, which is very fitting given the time of year. When we got back to the boat we had a nice dinner awaiting us, including a lot of fish which was great!
Day 2 was the city tour to Puerto Princesca, it was ok, nothing that AMAZING, though the crocodile farm was quite cool. It was at this point I actually met a Philippino lady, and her daughter who kept me company on the tour. In true Philippino style she loved taking photos, which was good for me as it meant I could actually have my whole body in the photos rather than just my head ( you know the photos you take on your own when you stretch your arm out to get as much of the background in around your face). I had a nice early night getting prepared for Day 3, the Honda Bay Island Hopping Tour....
The same lady was on this tour too hurrah! And this was nice tour actually across some different Islands round the Philippines. Particularly good if you liek snorkelling (which I am not into), I still had a great time. We did 2 islands and again had lunch there, which was the fresh fish, with rice of course!
Day 4, this was the last day of activities and was the much awaited underground river which has been recognised as one of the 7th natural wonders of the world. So the tour was very disorganised, as per usual but it was amazing once we finally got into the cave. The boat tour is about 45 mins in the cave and you only go 1.5km as you need special licences to get any further. The guide on the boat was very well scripted and pointed out all of the different formations and what they looked like. Definately worth doing despite it being a bit of a hassle.
And Day 5 was a day of travelling for me, off to Boracay, but had to go to Manila to get another flight... Long day.... and more about Boracay in the next Blog....
Over and out
