Wednesday; Day 9! My last day in London town! I head to Knightsbridge again in the morning and make my way to the Natural History Museum. I thought the Prince Albert building was beautiful but this was just on a whole new level! From the outside it was like an enormous Medieval palace (not sure that really does it justice) but inside was like I had stepped into one of the Harry Potter movies where they all have their meals and meetings in that big hall with the staircases and ridiculously high ceilings!!! I can't really describe it to you and the photos still don't capture the vastness of it but maybe you'll just have to go see for yourself! The Museum was on three levels all led by wide staircases and balcony's. I was actually more fascinated in the building than the history and collections inside it! I probably spent a couple of hours in there studying various historic monuments, I found this incredible long room filled with all these different rocks and stones (it's better than it sounds!) of all the different minerals, oxides, sulphates, gold, silver, platinum and precious stones. It was so interesting and the stones were phenomenal! I found the biggest chunk of amber you've ever seen, the biggest gold nugget, the most beautiful opal and Quartz and...you get the picture!...
Very pleased that I went to this Museum, I headed to Costa for an iced coffee but on the way stopped by a beautiful Cathedral called St. Patricks. Intrigued by how big it was, I headed inside to enjoy how beautiful and sacred it was. There were candles lit everywhere and so many different saints featured on the walls. It was stunning.
Once I was at Costa, I received a message from a family friend (Steph) who has been living in London but has been away on an internship. She messages me saying she's back and that if I'm near Oxford Circus (2 stops away) that we should catch up! I let Chloe and Georgia know that I won't be able to see them until later on now and so I jump on the tube and head for Oxford st. Steph has known me since I was born and is 2 years older than me. Our Mum's have been friends since school and her Mum was a bridesmaid in my Mum's Wedding! Steph backpacked like I am, last year around Australia and actually came to stay with us for 3 months!
Very excited that I would get to see her again, we meet at a Costa and catch up on everything before heading to Covent Garden to have dinner with her and her boyfriend who I was yet to meet! His name is Ross and he is the loveliest guy ever. We head to their 'new favourite place', a Mexican restaurant called 'Wahaca'!!!
After spending several hours with them I realise it's already 8.30pm and have a couple of missed calls so I'd better get a move on! We say adios after such a lovely evening and I catch a couple of tubes (did I mention I catch a lot of tubes...) and meet Georgia and Chloe at this hotel they are staying at with all the Contiki people ready for it to begin tomorrow. The plan tonight is to head to a cocktail bar near Bank, called 'Core' that Robert manages. He has invited us to come for a drink and so we figure why not!
Inside, we take a seat and are soon being showered by all these different cocktails in all different colours with jelly beans in the top of one, fruit loops in another, Terrys chocolate orange on another and so on! (Omg!) We couldn't believe it! He just kept bringing them out haha!! And before we could even thank Robert, 2 platters of food are brought to our table as well!...Are we in heaven!!?? I definitely wasn't expecting this! I don't remember being nice enough to him (lol) to receive all of this but hey, we weren't complaining!
Robert sits with us for a while and has a chat before we all head down stairs to see the whole place (incredible) and see Alessandro, the Italian charmer from the other day! Alessandro is apparently who made our drinks and he ends up making us 3 more; 1 each for our different personalities!!!! Quite creative really and a pretty good night! We hang out with a Hungarian friend of Robert's that I met the other day as well and enjoy the last of our drinks.
Knowing we all have to get up early in the morning to leave London, we say thank you to Robert (THANK YOU SO MUCH) for looking after us and inviting us to his cocktail bar and goodbye to everyone else.
In the tunnel, I need to catch a different one to Chlo and George and we realise I won't get to see them again for a long time. We hadn't even thought about it until then, we were having too much fun..Lots of cuddles and kisses later, I say 'goodbye but see you soon' and hop onto the tube....
What an amazing time I have had whilst in London. I really couldn't have asked for anything better. I have been so blessed and looked after since the moment I arrived, I can't even believe it. I have felt confident, independent and so excited to be able to explore this crazy city and meet so many people who I now can call friends. Looking forward to be seeing my family in the Midlands but I definitely can not wait to come back one day soon! Good night :)
