Saturday;; Day 12. I must admit, the weather has been a little miserable the last couple of mornings but that's okay because I'm all cosy inside and by the time afternoon comes, it's all cleared up. Typical for an English summer in the Midlands though!
Today I get a phone call from Doreen confirming that I will be going down to Bath with Martin and everyone and staying with them for about 4 nights. So very excited; and that's the beauty really of not having cement plans, because things can change - just like I said in my Solo Travelers Tip no.2!
As soon as I got off the phone, I call my Mum and Dad and they are so happy that this is happening and that I'll be spending time with Cliff's family. It's just a shame that Aunty Di won't be able to join us too but she's off to the Maldives; nothing special hahaha! Lucky duck!
I later get round to finally uploading some of my photos so far off the Canon (camera) and put them on Facebook. Have a look if you want to!...
At 4.30, I catch a train to Birmingham where I meet with a friend who's actually been my Mums friend for 20 years and used to baby sit me when I was little. She's probably more like a big sis to me more than anything else! Her name is Sarah, Sarah Sausage! She has a real last name but Mums just always called her that so it stuck! Sarah's husband is there too when I arrive and I am yet to meet him so it was all very exciting! They got married in November. We leave the station and make our way to find a restaurant. On the way, we stop at a shoe store though as I'm currently wearing sandals and it's wet and cold! I never packed flat enclosed 'nice' shoes that weren't converse or hiking boots lol so we found me a nice pair half price in a store called Dune! With that sorted, we head to an Indian restaurant (Indian is popular in England!) and make ourselves comfortable.
We take ages to order the food, in between talking, laughing and reminiscing but I order this mild garlic chicken Masala with naan bread and rice. Yum! Umar orders a dish extra spicy, coz he crazy and doesn't even sweat one bit! It's so lovely to be with Sarah again and she says she's just going to follow me around Europe so she can see me all the time haha! Wouldn't bother me :)
After another lovely night, they walk me back to the station and say goodbye.
On the train, there's a bunch of these people covered literally head to toe in orange sand and multi-coloured paint and they're completely out of it. Apparently there was a rave in Birmingham and now they were all heading home. They looked absolutely disgusting to be honest haha as the sand had all dried crusty and one of them sat next to me....The whole way home he kept falling asleep with his head down in his chest and every now and then his head would start slowly falling towards me basically on my shoulder or towards my lap! And every time this happened I couldn't help myself but start laughing as people around watched, also having a giggle. (Poor guy!) This would quickly wake him up and he would re-position himself, still with his eyes closed and head down though! It was quite the train ride!
Once I get home I enjoy spending the rest of the night chilling out with Ian and Di and looking at all different atlas's, Lonely Planet books and some of their travel photos from many of the holidays they've gone on. Ian has pretty much visited half of the world including nearly every country in Europe!!! Very inspiring! Tomorrow will be my last day with them before I head a couple of streets over to my Aunty Coral's house :)
