Having taken our penultimate night bus from La Paz we arrived in the sea side resort of Huanchaco bright and early and checked into a nice little hostel on the front. Having grabbed 40 winks we took a stroll and grabbed lunch in a busy little surfer gaff called 'My friend'. Huanchaco has fantastic surfing conditions so therefore attracts quite a mix of folk from all over taking advantage of the waves. The local beer was damn cheap and non too shabby so after a few in the belting afternoon sun on the sea facing terrace of the hostel a few of us undertook the gruelling 20 metre walk to the beach for the stunning sunset and to dip the toes. Dinner was a rather pleasant affair sat outside a restaurant while they barbecued the mornings catch of sea bass right next to us. The next day was pretty much more of the same. I again took advantage of the wonderful fresh seafood for lunch with Tom and Flo and had a rather tasty piece of flounder. After another afternoon of slow cooking in the sun and a somewhat exhilarating (in my opinion, others may beg to differ) transfer to the coach station (apparently making up time for being late by racing the wrong way down one way streets, not breaking for speed bumps and cutting through petrol stations to avoid traffic lights is perfectly acceptable in Peru... Think our driver might have spent too long playing GTA on the playstation) it was with a tear in the eye (please note the ever so slight note of sarcasm) we boarded our tenth and final nightbus in South America... destination Mancora.

Sam W Back into the blogging groove, I likey. Glad you've seen the back of those overnight bus journeys, reminiscent of that shocking megabus trip, moonwalking from London to Inverness.
