After Taman Negera I decided to go back to KL for one night and then catch the morning bus to Malaka. It took only about 2 hours to get there and cost about 1 pound for the ride.
Arriving in Malaka I was a little bit pissed off. My backpack and all the nice lovely newly washed and ironed clothes got covered in some smelly sewage type stuff that resided in the buses cargo hold, it smells like they just plumed the toilets into my clothes bag.
Anyway, I arrived late afternoon at the budget Royers Guest House, on the outskirts of China Town. At 1.80 sterling a night, I got much more than expected! Free Tea/Coffee, clean bedsheets, DVD player/collection and computer! pretty ace!
Anyway, China Town in Malaka is great, also another great area is where the old church is, there are also lots of old colonial buildings, Portuguse, Dutch and British.
I ended up staying here for 3 days in the end, an extension on the 2 day original plan. One of these nights was pretty ace as well, as one of the people who work at the guesthouse drove us about a 1 1/2 to the Singapore border. There was a club there that one of the backpackers was going to DJ for, which meant we all got free beers all night long! We all finally dragged ourselves in at 5.30am, shattered, but not regretting one moment :p
Anyway, I am heading off to the Island of Penang tommorow, involving a 2 hour trip back to KL, a 11 hour train journey, and then a 20 minute ferry ride.
Check my blog out again soon for more updates!
