Technically not travelling yet! But hey, I thought I would just write some stuff about the run up to it, some nice memories to look back on when I am old and grey (printing this stuff out).
Anyway, all my plans are working out and everything is almost set. I leave again for SE Asia on Feburary 16th, so a little under 10 days now. I can't believe I am leaving again so soon after returning (10 months from return). Definetely excited about going again as you can all imagine! less nervous than I was for my first trip, but there is a little bit of that sinking feeling you get when you do something your not use to that puts you on the spot, hard to describe, but...yeah, whatever. I think the only thing that really scares me about this trip is having to brave the London Underground from London to Heathrow, now thats gonna be terrifying! And I think the hardest part is having to resist drinking too many beers at the Weatherspoons at Heathrow if my train is on time, 5 hours!
Anyway, I go out tommorow with a few people to have a kind of low key leaving party gathering. Again on Thursday and then again on Friday with the people I work with. Also tommorow we will be celebrating my brothers success with his job interview that is going to land him a nice pay increase! So everyone, rounds on him :p
I am just now booking my transport to London, and have just booked my luxury accomodation in KL. I have two days of having my own room, air conditioning, western toilet and attached bathroom! AWESOME! followed no doubt by 163 days of creeky fan rooms or shady dorms rammed full of other friendly backpackers, but hey :) I wouldnt have it any other way, infact nothing could be more of an awesome laugh, especially when the money saved means more beer and other cool things :)
So, I imagine the next blog will be when I arrive in Kuala Lumpur. I aim to spend about 3 days there before moving up towards the island of Penang, where I will meet up with my friend and stay there for a week before going ahead overland to Bangkok and meeting up with the same friend again there (who is flying). From there is going to be, over the next 5 months, Cambodia, Vitenam, Laos, back to Thailand, Burma (maybe), then either Bangledesh, Nepal (mt.everest etc) then into India. Or, the island of borneo (orangatang spotting) then East Timor, then the majority of the two main islands of Indonesia, doing all sorts of cool stuff like visiting national parks and climbing volcanoes.
All remains to be seen how it pans out over the coming months. Thanks for reading and keep checking my facebook for updates on my trip once I commence.
