Hey everyone!!!!!!
Sorry for the delay, i have been a busy boy!! Since my last blog entry we were intending to vist Pai, 5 hours north of Chiang Mia. However, things changed and we ended up driving 13 hours to the southeast of Thailand to a friends village! It was spur of the moment decision but I would not change it for the world!! Karl's gilfriend Aroon was visiting her village and invited us all to come along for the week!!Why not!
The first day we went to Aroon's farm a little out from the village! We all had our own tasks. My job was to catch and kill the chicken, stu's job was to catch some fish and Karl's job was to herd the buffalo! As you can see by the pics i was successful in catching and killing the chicken! I will never look at a wrapped chicken breast fillet in the same way again!! A good experience to catch and kill your own food and then gut it and prepare it for some chicken noodle soup!! A little gory but now i know how its done! Hope you proud Mum! The pics say it all!
This village has no white people there, and is seriously of the beaten track in terms of tourism!!! We walked around her village and everyone of us felt like a rockstar!! When we were there they had a massive carnival on, a sort of parade asking the gods to make it rain to grow their crops!! It was mental, hundreds of people all dressed up, some with willys wrapped around them (something to do with gettin rid of ghosts!?!) But it ended up with us being part of the parade! They called us Ferang, which means westerner! We went from house to house tasting their local homemade whiskys and other such alcoholic drinks!! Once again it got well messy! Towards the end of the festival they set of rockets and fireworks, it used to be a spiritual thing but these days the blokes compete against each other to see who can fire their rocket the highest!
At nights we chilled under the hut we stayed in with some beers and music! A class experience which i dont think many people have/will be lucky enough to experience!! So if ya reading this Aroon, cheers love!
So now were back in Chiang Mia once again, goin to the lake on Sunday to chill and have a swim! Weve got a good group of us now so its really good!! 2mora me and Stu are doing the border run as our visa runs out in a couple of days, into Burma and straight back! But at the end of the week we are definately going to Pai as we've heard its a well chilled place with a good set of bars!!! If the pics arent up when your reading this they will be within a couple of days as it has literally just b*****ed up whilst writing this blog, bloody hate computers!!! Take care people, please keep leaving us messages as i have no idea of whats going on back home! Cliff can you leave me your email address please, cheers!
