Hi Guys! Last time i did an update i was in Hoi An and was going out shopping and yes before you ask i weakend!!! The next day was another free day and i did absolutely nothing!! I had a walk around the beautiful lazy town of Hoi An, had a swim at the hotel pool and read a little bit! That night me and the girls (Megan, Lindsay and Erin) had a bit of a boozy night, i believe one of them has a picture of me trying to 'plank' across some guys scooter but it was a great laugh! The next day we left for Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City. We set off early and took an hour flight from Da nang airport and arrived early afternoon. We had a orientation walk saw the old post office, Rex hotel (where US officers set up shop during the war), Opera House and went for ice creams!! Then we spilt up me and the girls went for a walk around Ben Thanh Market and had a beer in a roadside place with the locals (it's basically plastic chairs on the pavement) and watched Saigon whizz by! Then we had the most amazing Pho Bo for dinner (Vietnamese beef noodle soup). Today was kick ass, we were up early to go see the Chu Chi tunnels our guide Hi was a translator for the US army for 3 years of the war and discovered some of the tunnels! He was a really awesome, funny guy. He told us many stories of things that he had witnessed and things that had happened to him which made it so interesting! We did go through one tunnel for 100metres only because the original has been widened for westerners lol! (it was still tiny!) We had to walk through doubled up in near darkness! Me and Erin also went to the shooting range and fired an AK47 at a target. Don't worry your all safe i am a crap shot! Quite scary though they are so loud!! We came back just after lunch and we all went to the War Remnants museum, which was quite haunting showing the effects that the bombing, torture and napalm had and still has on the Vietnamese people. After that we walked back to the hotel passing the Reunification Palace. Tonight we are loosing Nick and Sue as they have finished their trip and are heading home. But tonight at dinner we gain two newbies who are coming with us to Cambodia. Which is probably where i will next update, we have one more day tomorrow in Saigon we have our day trip to the Mekong Delta and then travel to the boarder by public bus, country number 7 bring it on!! xxxx
