Hi Guys!! Well we met the last two people for our group William and Marie a couple from the Shetlands (we are getting majorly out numbered by the Scots lol) For our last day in Saigon we had our day trip to the Mekong Delta. We set off at 7.00 by bus it took an hour and a half to get to the riverside and then took a boat around the islands we went to a fruit farm, honey farm (where i held a python random!), coconut candy factory, ricepaper workshop, visited the temple of the coconut monk, crocodile farm and had a rowing boat ride through the mangroves. It was a really good but incredibly hot day so we had a chill out night with some Pho Ga and ice cream lol! Next day we left for Phom Penh. It took 8 hours by public bus including the time it took to get through passport control. Arrived at the hotel about 15.30 quick turn around then back out for an included cyclo or trishaw tour there was one each so we had 16 in convoy lol! We went up to Wat Phom, then went passed the independance monument, huge market hall and the Royal Palace where they dropped us off by the riverside. We had a our dinner at FCC which is where Khmer generals used to met for drinks! We got a little tiddley during happy hour, but made it safely back to the hotel by tuk tuk! Which brings me to today, it has been emotionally draining, busy, hot, wet and amazing!! Ok so the day started with our included excersion we met our local guide for the day Mr We and first went to Tuol Sleung prison, which is now the genocide museum it was awful but fasinating. When Cambodia was liberated and the prison closed there were 7 surviviors but they are only 2 alive today, i met them both Mr Bou Meng and Mr Chum Mey, two sweet little old men who 30 years ago where brutally tortured by the Khmer Rouge. I bought both of their biographies and had them signed. After that i didn't get much easier we went the killing fields, 40 mins from the town centre. It was gresome but again fasinating! As we walked around you can see where the rain has started washing away the top soil and uncovering bones, teeth and clothing everywhere you stepped! After that we needed a light hearted afternoon, so when we got back to the city we had lunch (i tried Beek Lok Lak it was awesome). Then me and Megan went to the Royal Palace, then met up with William, Marie and Fon to go watch live kick boxing which was fantastic! It started thundering, lightening and whizzing it down whilst we were there (the lights kept cutting out). Then we took and tuk tuk back to the hotel and got soaked but it was great fun! Now we are all off dinner tonight and tomorrow we set off for Siem Riep!!! Until then xxxx
