16th January
I really don't want to dwell too much on thus day as the 17th was the best day we have had so far!!! But really we spent the day mainly relaxing as chloe was feeling the effects of her sunburn! But now thanks to her purchase of factor 50 this seems to be keeping it under wraps!
For breakfast I obviously had my very carby fatty breakfast and chloe her fruit!
We had a lovely dinner at an all round the world restaurant but had Thai food again, chloe the noodle soup and myself fried rice with chicken.
We needed an early night that night as we had to be up at 7- that is where the fun would begin!!!
17th January
Now where do I start??? We woke up to the most amazing breakfast again (something we will definitely miss about this place!)
Then jumped into our bikinis, lapped on the factor 50 and made our way to the beach! The speedboat came and go us around 8:10 and the we went to pick up a few other guests from other beachside hotels!
Then we were on our way to maya beach- the wind in our hair felt amazing as obviously we were sat at the front of the speedboat! We past lots of islands until we were finally at maya bay! Now I have been here before so I knew what to expect, but Chloe's face was a picture - looking round the place like it was complete paradise!!
Having been here before this did make me miss my parents quite a bit, however this is a new adventure- and right now, down south does feel very much like home (apart from mums amazing cooking)!!
We got off our speedboat and went off to explore maya bay! It was truly beautiful and exactly how I had remembered it!! The sand was as white as anything and the water was turquoise- amazing!!
Then from here we made our way to monkey island to do some snorkeling!! I jumped right off of the boat at the front and was waiting for the slow coach chloe to catch up! When we finally got our heads in the sea we were surrounded by fish of every colour- it was like a whole new world down there! Chloe of course couldn't grasp the concept of snorkeling and swallowed a load of water, not a natural like me- actually she was far from it)!
After a good time snorkeling we proceeded to bamboo island to explore and have some lunch! However on the way to bamboo island the sea started to get quite rough, this wasn't great as being sat at the front of the boat- we were being soaked!!! When we eventually got to bamboo island, we had to jump in and run to shore as the waves were rather large! Chloe was fine with this and ran to shore. However unfortunately for me- being only 5ft failed me here as I'm jumped in and it was ver my head- holding my bag above me- I just swam for my life to the shore!
After having a little sunbathing time we decided to dry off by doing a little sunbathing! Then a lovely man came over and said that lunch was ready! We had rice, with green curry, stir fried vegetables and chicken drumsticks- it definitely hit the spot!! Especially as it was followed by lots of watermelon and pineapple! We're certainly living the life!
After lunch we explored the island, took a few photos and just took in the amazing scenery around us! When it was time to get back onto the boat- we had to get on somewhere else as the sea had got even rougher, but after getting on we opted to sit in the back where we hoped we wouldn't get so wet- but somehow it got through the roof- not as much though!
We arrived at phi phi don around 2pm and were given the choice to shop or go to the viewpoint! You may be shocked by our decision but we actually decided to go to the viewpoint (we were definitely all shopped out)!
Now where do I start about getting to the viewpoint? Obviously it was going to be very high up- but how high up, I don't think chloe was expecting! It was around 35 degrees and there was a lot of walking up steps and steep hillsides (trekking up a mountain as chloe would call it)!!
After about 30mins of walking which I think felt like hours to chloe (especially with all of the complaining)! I was struggling but I just tried to push through and forget about the heat! But when we did get to the top, it was definitely worth it! The view was spectacular- any of you who do have Facebook, have a look at my page and you can see it! (Chloe here- a horrible thought hit me half way up... I was thinking why am I doing this? I would rather buy a postcard! However, it turned out the only postcards you could buy were at the top- i checked! But thankfully the view will stay with us forever)
We had a nice ice cream at the top and took some pictures of the incredible views! Then it was time to come back down- we thought this would be so much easier- but we were wrong! You had to be very careful where you put your feet as it was so steep! Ankles feeling very fragile and chloe being cautious of her knee, we took our time to one back do
When we did our boat was waiting for us and we headed back to lanta. It was still very rough and we were getting very wet but as we got closer to lanta the sea seemed to calm down and we were absolutely exhausted trying to keep our eyes open! I was being cautious as we were all sat very close together and I know what I'm like when I'm asleep and I don't think the boy about our age beside me would appreciate me falling asleep on him!
We eventually made it back to the resort at around 5pm- covered in sea salt we both decided to have a very long shower! We then went into town to have some food- I needed carbs by this point and went for the spaghetti bolognaise and chloe again being healthy had chicken and vegetable soup (am I beginning to sound fat in these blogs??)
But at the end of that day, I think chloe has gone from being red to very brown and I have turned into the freckle monster, completely covered in freckles!!
