Day three of trip. Visited famous landau island Buddha and monastery today. Wow what a sight. Buddha is ENORMOUS!! Tried to take photos but dint think camera could really do it justice. It was crowded with Chinese people all preying and chanting the Buddha is up a huge flight of steps and from the top the views of the islands surrounding hong kong were again incredible. Lantau island itself may be quiet but is has some great vantage points. At the foot of the Buddha was the landau monastery. Their were two ticket options -one for just touring the temple for £2.50 and one including dinner!?!THe ticket price was only £60 $ which is about £6 so went for that. tHe food is amazing and such good value.it's also great fun just to sit with local people and soak up the taste and the smell of the local food. After lunch took a walk round the monastery. The building itself is all gold and ornament and they have incense burning everywhere. it is a truly spiritual and multiple sensory experience. There are statues of deities everywhere and it felt like somewhere you could sit for hours I then took the cable car down to tong city. The shops are amazing but just as dear as uk.
