It was another gorgeous day today but a little bit windy on the beach, so we put our towels on the grass by the kitchen instead. We were shielded from the wind so could really feel the heat of the sun burning down, it was nice.
Suddenly a group of people disturbed our peace with their mopeds. It was obvious none of them had much experience riding them as they tried getting them out of the complex. We watched one idoit show off on his moped, he started reving the engine but let go of the brake which made the bike shoot away, dragging him with it! It came up onto it's back wheel and smashed the back into the ground, it was really funny, he broke the lights, we both laughed at him!!
An hour later we started to get bored and hungry so we had lunch then walked down to the supermarket to get food for tomorrow. We put a dent in our diet and got an ice cream each as well as a choccy muffin to share. We couldn't help ourselves, it was on sale for $1.50!
The wind had dropped by the time we got back so we spent a few more hours sun bathing on the beach. It wasn't the best beach but it was nice enough. We know there are much nicer ones around the island but we couldn't be bothered to pay to get to any of them.
Later on after dinner we went to the bar for a quick drink, only because we had a free welcome drink voucher each from when we arrived the other day. Chris wanted to watch Australia and Scotland play rugby tonight but the bar wasn't playing any sport, in fact they didn't even have a tv! The nearest bar to the hostel was at least twenty minutes walk away so we had to hurry if we were going to make it in time for the start of the game! We quickly went back to our dorm and grabbed a torch. We were given directions to follow which lead us along the side of a pitch black road and through a dark forest area. I didn't really like it but I knew Chris really wanted to watch the rugby.
Finally we saw some lights at the end of the path. We ended up on a very dark spooky street with old wooden houses. It was only 7pm but there wasn't anyone about. It was hard to imagine a bar down this street so we thought we might have gone the wrong way. Still we carried on walking until we saw some more life. The quiet road lead us towards some larger streets and eventually we saw a sign pointing to Picnic Bay. We followed it and found one very large empty bar, which was surprising! We thought there would have been lots of Aussie supporters out tonight but there were only three people in the bar and they were only interested in watching the dog racing on another tv! They looked a bit rough to be honest.
We bought a pitcher of beer for only $9.50, it would have cost $15 back in our hostel and the bar man there had the cheek to shout that it was cheap! I wanted to mix lemonade with my beer, a small bottle was half the price of the jug of beer! I got it anyway, Chris wasn't happy about it.
The game was pretty boring even though Scotland won 9-6, Chris even said it was a pretty s*** game. We had a second jug of beer before walking back to our hostel. We didn't want to stay up drinking tonight because we are checking out tomorrow. We ended up going to bed just after 10:30pm.
