What a lovely weekend! Nige was up bright and early and ready to drive to Swellendam at 7.30am. Travelling at the speed of light (Nige's first journey in our new car - a nice 2litre audi) we arrived in Swellendam just before 10.30. The sun was shining and the cape looked absolutely amazing - the mountains lush from the rain looked as if they were clothed in velvet and the light cast stripes of gold and green. Chris' garden is so beautiful, the blossom is forming on his fruit trees and daisies, geraniums and magnolio are flowering. Nige cooked Mexican for lunch and I started to read Kite Runner - a great if somewhat disturbing read.
Saturday is always movie night in Swellies and this Saturday we watched Mr Bean's Holiday - we certainly laughed.
There has been lots of development in Swellendam, many more houses have been built since we were last in the town - who knows maybe there will soon be a Woolworths (the SA M&S). We strolled through the town on Sunday, and admired some local artwork on display at a gallery Julia has just started work at. Nige is v keen that we make a purchase / investment so look out for a lovely oil painting hanging in the guest room in 27 Faurre Street.
After having seen a v frustrating Arsenal performance Sunday afternoon, we head back to CPT as the sun set. What a lovely weekend we had had.
Love Cath & Nigex
