Well finally I headed to Rottnest Island. A small island off the coast of WA. We left on friday after work and hurried to the ferry, where Sara and Geoff were told off by a policeman for drinking at the ferry terminal!! then the ferry was late and by the time we all got on it, we were shattered! So we slept for our rapid 20 minute ferry ride, then got off at the island! We headed to our accomodation on the island shuttle bus, which was an old amy barracks. There we spent the night drinking, eating and having a laugh at the Quokas (marsupials, native to the island!) and each other.
In the morning we got up and walked to the settlement, We had some breakfast at Dome, then hired our bikes! For a laugh, Pam and I got a tandem, which was hysterical! At first we were wobbling all over the place, but gained control quickly! The journey was easy but my arse hurt after the first 5 kms!! We stopped at salmon bay and libby and I went for a swim, then cycled to the other side of the island and had a swim in parakeet bay! the water was fresh, but not too cold! We saw a family of Quokas on the way, and Pam and I nearly ran over a snake!! We think it was a dugite (pseudomaja affinis exilis), a highly poisonous snake!! In the top 10!!!!! We finished the day at the pub for a drink and chilled out! Great fun!!!
