Well here I am in the sunny tropics of Townsville. An army town on the queensland coast where you can't go in the sea due to all the saltwater crocodiles! So here I am working away in a hospital which literally has no work to do and is really boring! So I look forward to the weekends, where so far have spent my time in various creeks, big crystal and little crystal and my favourite alligator creek! Been swimming, base jumping and of course searching for scary wildlife! Living in a great flat with a kiwi tania and an aussie Paul, who I have spent these days with!
This weekend however, a group of us headed up to Cairns. We had a crazy drunken night out, followed by a day of sightseeing in Kuranda rainforest and loking at Barron Falls. Then we headed up to Mossman gorge and Port Douglas, looking at beaches and gorges along the way! The area is really pretty and the climate is fab!! We camped the night in Mossman, a small village, then on the sunday headed inland to the Atherton Tableland. An area of national parks and farmland full of waterfalls and rivers. it was very pretty, but we didn't have the chance to swim! On the way back we headed to Mission beach to hunt for both crocs and cassowaries, with little joy!! Then headed back to townsville!
Not too much to do here as its a country city, and living in the suburbs really limits you, but it is good to just relax, especially with the good weather! Still on the lookout for deadly creatures and the freshies (crocs) in the river behind the flat. Yet to find some though! Will keep you all posted....................
