Today we were much better prepared for our day of sightseeing, which was lucky because we were met with snow when we emerged from the hotel! Back on with the thermals, scarfs, beanies, umbrellas etc and most importantly, shoes without holes! We attacked differently today, heading for Hyde Park. It was a nice walk through the park in the snow - very different to walking around Darwin in boardies and a singlet! We wandered through the park to drop into Liz's pad for a earl grey, but she had other engagements so we had to settle for taking some photos from outside the fence like the other commoners… From Buckingham Palace we walked to Westminster and stopped to have a look in the Cabinet War Rooms from WW2 and Winston Churchill's museum. The war rooms were closed in 1945 and not reopened until 1984 and today are exactly how they were left nearly 70 years ago. Very cool.
From there we wandered back past Big Ben and over the river Thames to the London Eye. Case took some convincing, but VERY bravely decided to get on the Eye and see London from the safety of the seat in the middle of the 'pod' we were in.
By then the day had mostly disappeared, but there was still some time left, so back to Westfield we went again! Anyone else starting to see a pattern here?!
Another big day of sightseeing planned tomorrow, so rest time now.
