Today we headed out to look around the canals of Venice and try our hardest not to get lost! For those that haven't been lucky enough to make it here, the 'streets' are more like alleyways and all look the same. And to make it even more interesting, the map we were given was such a large scale that it only has about 1/4 of the street names! Not a great deal to write today as we spent most of it travelling. We left Rome, catching a train to Venice. The trains are so much less hassle than flying and it really doesn't take that much longer. You can rock up right before departure time, there's no baggage check in or security to checks to go through and then it whistles along at 270km/h. Got into Venice late afternoon, checked in and then headed out to find a restaurant for tea. More pizza and more wine...

Today we set off to see the few things we missed yesterday because of the weather. So with umbrella in hand (one arm broken already!), we set off toward Trevi Fountain and some nice cafes we'd spotted earlier. After throwing a coin in the fountain each (supposed to ensure a return to Rome), we headed toward the Pantheon. It really is amazing that something built in 126AD can not only be standing but look like it will last another 2000 years… Next stop was Piazz...

Today we were off sightseeing! Up, breaky on the run and then to the Colosseum. What a way to start the day! The only downer on the Colosseum tour was the wind, closely followed by the rain! Typical that the day we choose to walk around Rome's main attractions turns out to be one of the worst days for weather! So our great plan of another good sleep last night was completely stuffed by a snorer in the room next to us and some other inconsiderate tools who decided to have a party in the reception area until at least 2:30 when we finally got to sleep. Are we getting old?! Either way, our planned 8 start quickly turned in to ear plugs in and alarm reset for 9! Off to the post office first thing to send our box of stuff back to Aus.
