Having loved Queenstown so much the first time, we came back solely for a night out to celebrate my birthday. In true birthday party fashion, we first embarked on a getting ready party complete with drinking games, singing, makeup session and photo taking, all in the comfort of the back of Johnny!
We emerged looking amazingly smart, both in dresses! It was freezing. In the pub, it doesn't take us long to make friends, and one guy even arranged for a birthday cake and candle, and had his mates sing happy birthday. Another guy took it upon himself to ensure my birthday was memorable, and proceeded to ply us both with copious amounts of alcohol. I think if he'd realised how much we were capable of drinking, he may have thought of a different way to entertain us - the whole night must have cost him an absolute fortune!
12pm the next day, we finally wake up to discover that Queenstown Council were not quite so generous on my birthday, and had slapped a parking ticket on Johnny. For a brief moment, I stupidly thought about putting some money in the ticket machine, until we decided that slapping the ticket back on and going back to sleep was a much better idea.
5pm we wake for the second time, no new parking tickets, but we couldn't believe how late it was. We hot foot it to Wanaka, still in our PJs! It definately was a memorable birthday night out, however we do feel slightly perplexed that we spent $10 dollars more on the parking ticket than it would have been for a campsite - at least then we would have had a shower!
