Well today is officially Halloween in the United States, but here everyone celebrated Halloween on Saturday because it was a weekend and everyone didn't have to work on Sunday. Basically, it was the craziest and best Halloween party I've been to. 5 star hotel, 26th floor, tons of free drinks, lots of dancing, awesome costumes, after party at a cool bar until 7am... BEST NIGHT EVER, and all for $10. It was a really cool night, I've also never been to that kind of party so my expectations weren't very high haha but it sored beyond my expectations. It was a great girls night filled with fun times and lots of dancing. I hope I get to come back and go to the rest of the Halloween parties because they definitely top any I would have gone to in Phoenix.
Also, there have been nonstop birthday parties and holiday parties for the last week, with lots of going out and dancing all night long, so my legs are usually in pain because I'm slly and decide to wear high heels... not only do we dance for a long time, we also usually walk everywhere because everything is really close to our school, within walking distance (about 20 min) so we don't mind walking. There's a lot of really cool places to go around here, like Lang Kwai Fang, a place right outside of east gate that I always forget but the Muse club is there, and then there's the bar strip along with the clubs between south and west gate. There's some further away too but we don't go to those as often.
This weekend I'll be going to Emei Shan, which is supposed to be this totally gorgeous sacred buddhist mountain with great views and crazy monkeys that like taking your food... sounds like an adventure!! haha I'll enjoy it for sure, I haven't gotten out of Chengdu to travel so I'm quite excited to go to a sacred mountain further away from here. It sounds peaceful and beautiful and without pollution. I keep getting sick because of the spicy food, dirty places and air quality. I'm in a constant state of sick, but I'm trudging along... Almost back in the U.S. I can't believe I only have about a month left, it's gone by so fast, I feel like I can't leave yet because I'm just getting to know everyone and just getting used to the awesome lifestyle here... I definitely want to come back and keep studying Chinese. I need to improve! I see all the foreigners here that have been living here for a while and their Chinese is so good! I need to do the same thing. Lately I've been mostly hanging out with Chinese people who don't speak any English so that is actually helping more than being in class! Sad but true. Ok time to get to studying, I have two tests tomorrow... one on ancient Chinese and one on pronunciation. Good luck to me!!
