Today was so hot with 37 degrees well into the night and also the day the country celebrates their day of independence, 4th July but most importantly for us the opening procession and ceremony of the World Choir Games. Our very own Meagan Bebendorf became a TV star and did a life interview which was being streamed to begin the World Choir Games procession. We were all as patriotic as ever and fortunate to lead all the choirs into the enormous procession. The Australian and Cantabile spirit was certainly alive and everyone loved those Aussie gals. Everyone just wants to here them speak and be photographed with a fair dickum Aussie. The atmosphere was so exciting and it was wonderful to see the interaction between choirs from all around the world. The official ceremony included many messages of welcome and unity which was evident as everyone joined in together to sing the official World Choir Games song. It was just fantastic. Following the ceremony many of us also continued the celebrations watching the city's 4th July fireworks. They are legal in Kentucky so fireworks were to be seen everywhere in the hills. A few of our own crew also enjoyed one or two fizzers of their own. Today a about 3.30pm/4pm our time here(Thurs 5th July) the girls will have their own performance in the Youth Choir section with Kangula and Shackleton (I think) so we will be cheering them own and wish them the best best of luck. They will make all of you so proud I am sure. If I can upload a video, I will certainly try.
Wishes, hugs and kisses to you from all of the girls
