Last night in San Fran we went for a local steak at Osso to celebrate my 50'th- lumpy to say the least but lovely! Off to bed then up early at 4 am and taken by the hotel Limo and a great driver who was a jewish immigramt from Israel who was full of craic , stories and words of wisdom for the kida on how to live a worthwhile live- really , really nice bloke.
Got checked in , sat on the plane only to find that a pre-check had determined that the tyres where stressed- 3 hours later they were replaced!, followed by a 6 hour flight. Arriving about 4.40pm local time - we are now GMT -10 hours and in the middle of the pacific sea. Hawaii is lovely, Honolulu is a typical big city with quaint streets. Hotel Wakiki parc is clean , nice and in a good location but is no Fairmont. LAst night we stayed local , going into a sports bar around the corner on a street lit up with Xmas style lights, and olympic style flaming torches up the street which lokked great. Off to bed ready for a 1/2 day trip to pearl harbour tomorrow- aftet that , we have all deceided we want to slow the pace down with some R&R so Waikiki beach is just around the corner and looks beckoning - weather 81 and sunny- happy days!
