We had another fairly slow morning because we didn't get to sleep until around 2am last night. The French seem to eat evening meals a lot later when they are on holiday and everyone stays awake very late. It is all about drinking and eating and enjoying company of friends and family which is very cool.
We spent most of the morning relaxing and swimming in the pool then after lunch Marie took us to another village nearby called Orange. This is the home to the largest, most famous antique Roman Theatre in Europe. At the heart of Provence, this large theatre of Imperial Rome offers an exceptional glimpse of Roman civilization. The audio guided tour recounts the history of the theatre and shows in Ancient Rome, bringing them back to life. It was very interesting!
We returned to Vaison la Romaine by about 6.30pm and Andrew and I started preparing dinner for the family. We had offered to do a Kiwi BBQ for them and they were very excited about this. Dad you would have been impressed with Andrew cooking on the coal Weber! We cooked whole prawns in garlic butter to start then had steak and fish with fresh salad and new potatoes. We were very happy with how it all worked out and everyone seemed to enjoy the meal. I was a little bit worried it would not meet their expectations but thankfully it was a success.
