After our weekend away we realised there was a lot to see and do within close proximity to Perth. As I had more temp jobs pouring in that I could undertake, we decided to buy another car so that I wasn't relying on Kimbo to take me/pick me up from work. I was thrilled to get my hands on another Corolla, my favourite car and a fastback at that with air conditioning.
We saw John Waters "Looking Through A Glass Onion" at the beautiful His Majesty's theatre.
Celebrated Chinese New Year in Northrbridge on 17th January.
Saw Spy v Spy at Club Atlantis and took ourselves exploring on weekends in "my" comfy car.
A highlight was the little town of York.
We had tickets to day 4 of the cricket test against West Indies at the WACA, but sadly it didn't last that long and we lost by an innings and 25 runs.
The Australia Day Skyshow on the bank of the Swan River was fabulous as was the RAAF flyover.
Kimbo's "play mates" Steve and Noelene are going back to Coffs as they're going to be parents. It was sad to see them drive out of the park we'd had such fun together.
I was told my thyroid has to come out as drugs cannot fix it and I wasn't excited about drinking radioactive iodine............eeek!!!!! But for now it needs to settle down a bit before it can come out.....so the wait goes on.
The zoo at South Perth was amazing.
On Sunday 21st February Gus arrived from Adelaide for a few days. We went straight to City Beach but missed the sand sculpture competition but the boys went for a swim and I sat under our new brolly. Then we drove to Scarborough for a couple of drinks at Observation City Resort. A great band playing at the session. The beaches are beautiful.
Next day we were up too early to catch the 8.30am ferry to Rottnest Island but it didn't leave until 9.15am!!!! Big changes since I was here 10+ years ago. Many more buildings. We picked up bikes and rode around the island. The boys had a swim at Ricey Beach. Strickland Bay it was very hot and we made the decision to go back to Thomson Bay after playing with the adorable quokkas on the way. Stopped at the pub for a well deserved drink or two then pushed on to Parker Point but we probably should've stopped before, we were all done in, so we turned around, took our bikes back and spent the last hour or so in the pub’s beer garden.
At 5.00pm the fast ferry had us back in Fremantle and we were there by 5.30pm.
Fish & chips at the wharf before parading up South Terrace or as it's commonly known cappuccino strip. A stopover at Kings Park and then home. Estimated we’d cycled 20km.
On Tuesday I went to work and the boys played during the day then we went to the Casino for dinner and ended up staying until 3.30am Wednesday morning!!!
Wednesday we took in more of the beaches and stopped at Hillarys, Underwater World, drinks at home and then into Knightsbridge for dinner.
Gus left on Thursday and Kimbo was home alone with all his play mates gone!
