We've both as a couple and individually had exciting years but this year has been amazing and defining in so many way.
This isn't my first New Year in Perth, but the last was so many years ago I can barely recall any moments of it.
On the weekend we took a drive to Rockingham which is a sort of satellite city south of the city. Nothing startling about the place so we went further afield and ended up at
Serpentine Falls in The Serpentine Valley which was obviously the place to be, there were people everywhere and it must be the local swimming hole. I suspect it would be a good place to visit during the week and NOT during school holidays.
On the way home we came back through Armadale and Kimbo spied an ornamental lake with guys racing radio controlled yachts on it. Well it had him in and we spent quite some time there watching them. He just loves these things.
It was another really hot day and having the "lid" on the moke is great for shopping etc but not for Sunday arvo driving, as no air comes in, so Kimbo decided to take my door off so that we could get some air flow - it worked. He threw it in the back atop the backseat which used to be one of the original seats in our bus, when it was a school bus - that's reusing and recycling at its best.
Since Christmas (last Friday) there have been more public holidays than work days. We've had some interesting weather, but the majority of the time has been hot. We did have a big storm on Monday with lots of rain and it cooled things down beautifully.
Tuesday came around quick enough and I was in full work mode,on my own; and all was well. Kimbo took me to work and picked me up..............as he should, if he's happy to do it, I'll let him. I did however decide to catch public transport home. It was pretty easy; train to the city and then a bus from the busport and a short walk home. All part of the experience.
Kimbo still has absolutely no interest in looking for a job. He's loving the holiday mode part of his life and while he continues to cook my dinner, do the washing, clean up and do what has to be done it's fine by me. If he has time to squeeze in a surf or whatever during the day it doesn't affect me. He know at some point he will get sick of it. He (unlike me) hasn't had a big block of time off work in the 20 years he's been working.
We decided to spent New Year's Eve with Steve and Noelene at the Ascot Tavern, a pleasant walk from the caravan park. The pub was jumping with a band called "Cool Change" playing and they kept the punters happy by playing everyone's "favourites". There was much fun being had by all. We walked back to the park (which was really quiet), as were we about 1.30am.
Happy New Year!
