DAY 6: ARRIVING IN THE BIG APPLE
It was with some regret we left Niagara Falls this morning. I could've looked at that view for days!
However, it's been more than offset with our arrival in the Big Apple where we were offered yet another upgrade.
We're staying at the Trump Soho. Our revised booking is now a suite on the 40th (of 45) floors looking out onto the Hudson River with uninterrupted views stretching down to the Freedom Tower / World Trade Centre district. Seriously, after Chicago, if Donald keeps this up I might have to consider changing citizenship and voting for him!
Temporary insanity aside, its been a good first day here in New York.
After checking in this arvo, we went across the street to visit the NYFD Museum. This old firehouse is home to all manner of equipment and vehicles dating back to the 1800's. There was also a separate room in the museum paying a special tribute to the fallen firefighters of 9/11.
From there we took a stroll around our local neighbourhood here in Soho to get our bearings. Soho is heavily residential, so there's lots of restaurants nearby to take in.
Speaking of which, for dinner tonight we decided to take a break from the usual deep fried or bbq grilled cuisine that's been on offer everywhere these past few days. We instead found this little intimate (i.e. 16 person capacity) Indian restaurant just down the street from our hotel. It was without doubt, the best curry we've had in ages (the fact it was also the cheapest dinner we've had so far on tour was also a bonus!).
Looking forward to seeing what the next three days in New York has to offer!
