DAY 18: WASHINGTON DC!
Left Charleston on a morning flight and arrived in the nation's capital by lunchtime.
We're staying at the Hotel Monaco, an historic post office building built in 1839 (opened by Abe himself apparently) and only converted to a hotel in the last decade. Very happy with our room and its facilities (though I'm not sure about the complimentary animal print bath robes!). The location is perfect, being within walking distance to a lot of the city's sights and attractions.
No sugar coating it, it's cold and wet here in Washington DC. On the bright side, Josh was ecstatic to get his first touch of snow - well at least the remains of what has fallen in recent days by the looks of it. We thought we'd brave the elements though and check out our surroundings.
A short stroll down the street and we were in full view of both Capitol Hill and the Washington Monument. Thankfully however the rain is suppose to clear by tomorrow so fingers crossed a full day of sightseeing will be in order.
