DAY 17: CHARLESTON - JUST POINT AND CLICK
Woke to grey skies and chilly conditions here in Charleston this morning, but overcast conditions still can't distract from the beauty of this place.
I understand now the whole Savannah vs Charleston argument had amongst the locals here, cause I can't separate the two - both are as picturesque as the other.
We started the day with a horse and cart ride around the historic district to catch our bearings. Every home you pass has stories two sometimes three hundred years old.
As luck would have it, today is also 'Second Sunday' - the second Sunday of the month where they close off King St and turn it into a fair with street dining and live entertainment. Conveniently our hotel is nestled right on the corner of King and Wentworth, so all the fun is right below us.
Had a big lunch today at the Charleston Crab House (got me some grits!), so we're still a bit undecided on dinner tonight. We're right in the heart of the dining district though, so plenty of options to choose from.
Tomorrow we jump on a plane and head to the nation's capital. Glad we packed the woollies!
