3 nights in Bangkok became 7 very quickly. I met David on the first day and the rest of it can be summarised very briefly by alcohol, early morning trips back to the hostel and more alcohol.
Of my 7 nights 3 were spent on Khao San when the earliest we got home was 4.30, the latest 7.30 - or for David 12.30 in the afternoon. Dingy clubs, street parties, 6am Macdonalds, a long bus journey home and a magnitude of new Facebook friends I can't quite recall. Khao San was fun.
On Friday and Saturday night we ventured into the slightly more sophisticated side of Bangkok nightlife. However in order to do so, I needed a fake id. Using our spectacular graphic design skills, David and I got onto Paint, yes paint, in order to make me 22. First club, this would have worked, had we realised that your dob is also printed amongst the numbers at the bottom of your passport. Crap. I headed back to the hostel to fix our rookie mistake before heading back to Thong Lo and meet them at the next place. 2nd time lucky, I got in. Once this club had shut, our new friends(...) instructed us to follow them into a cab, and to an after hours place. Of course we did it. So we arrived at some club, id still worked, women got in free, we were greeted at the elevator by a midget attendant. Amazing. Both our phones were dead, the drinks were expensive and we wanted out. For whatever reason we thought walking home was a good idea. Desperate for food, after discovering Too Fast To Sleep don't do food at 5.30am, we caught a glimpse of the protestor camp occupying Lumphini Park, and thought where better to walk through on a quest for food at 6am. We found no food, but what we did find was even better. Upon the massive, lit up stage was a man very enthusiastically taking an aerobics class, and people all the way through the camp partaking. It would be rude if we didn't stop for a dance.
So right now, I'm in Chiang Mai, essentially recovering. A week of alcohol and minimal sleep has left me ill and haggard. Four days of nothing, before I head back to Bangkok for Songkran.
Oh and Ashika, just in case you're reading this, Sri Lanka's still better... Please keep hold of my purse! :D
