After the heavy rainfall from last night and the extra companion in our room we didnt have much sleep. We woke up at 06.30am to get ready for the day ahead. We were going to the Kinabatang river and rainforest to see the wildlife, the journey was long and very bumpy, the roads are not very smooth in Borneo!We arrived at a small jetty and had to basically walk the plank with our heavy rucksacks on our backs to get across to the platform on the river and by the way...

so we wer meant to wake up at approx 2am but because of the faffers we were actually up at around 1am! we were so tired, aching arms and legs and i was so cold outside. We had a small breakfast and headed for the summit, As we reached further to the top we had to pull ourself up from small steep ledges using some rope, it seemed very dangerous as the fall was very high and steep. the ropes were also wet from the rain making our gloves wet. so we awoke early ready for the big climb, Katie decided to climb the harder trail, 2 km longer and 40% steeper than the one Bronya and most of the other group members did. The climb was very hard, there were many steps, rocks and slippery stones that you had to climb up, not only was it hard, the rain added to it making it even harder, our clothes wee drenched and our rucksacks were also soaking. After an early start to the day we headed off on the coach to mt kinabalu national park. On the way we stopped off at a small village selling crafts, as we had only a small bag which was to be taken up to the mountain we didnt buy anything although we wanted to as everything was so pretty and amazingly cheap!! We had a chinese meal in the local resuraunt, between Bronya and Katie we shard chicken and vegetables with rice, sweet and sour chicken and lemon chicken ...

After a late evening flightwe arrived at our hotel in Kota Kinabalu, we were on of the last ones to arrive and we met our guide, he told us to pack a bag of 3 days worth of clothes for the national park and mountain... we only had 15l rucksacks so had to cram everything into them! as we arrived so late we decided to go to bed as we had an early morning start.
