Today we left the bunk house at 10 to drive out of town where we could take a couple mile hike out to a retired lighthouse that is not reachable by road. The hike through the hills along the coast was so refreshing and everything that we had been hoping for since the first few days in Glasgow. I have never seen so much poop. Sheep poop, rabbit poop.....all sorts of poop. I got to climb all over rocks and jump over bogs, and it was wonderful. The lighthouse is very pretty and for the most part, very well preserved. We packed our own lunch to eat out there, and Allison and I had our picnic out on the rocks overlooking the sea. On our hike back we did less trails and more off-roading and I definitely stepped in a bog. On the way back to the bunk house we all stopped at the L sand dunes right on the water. I was so warm from the hike I ran all over the beach and through the water. We then stopped by and old stone church in the town we are staying in and explored that before heading back to make the most delicious taco dinner and birthday cake for Ashley Strazzinski's birthday! After din a small group of us went back to the dunes where Grace and I had an interesting experience. We were walking along the beach and we see a big clump of sand a fur and I commented that it looked like a sheep so we tugged on the hair and it was definitely attached to something, so we started pulling and after removing a chunk saw bone and muscle, long story short, we dug up a dead buried sheep on the beach:) then I climbed on top of the highest dune, and Allison and I discovered a big bowl shaped sand pit and proceeded to continuously jump down it, an activity that has now been coined as yomping. Up the road lives a man: John that our prof Don used to hang out with when he was on sabbatical in Scotland, so we went to visit and got to bottle feed a baby lamb named Charlie, and had a cup of tea. After that we went back to the dunes for more yomping and a glass of wine on top of the dunes over looking the water to further celebrate Ashley's birthday. Shower. Bed.
