I have officially been in Scotland for a week. Today we left Levenburg for a day trip of mini tours. First we stopped at the Calanais Standing Stones which look like a much smaller version of Stonehenge. Next we drove to Dun Carloway Broch, which is the remains of a house that is built taller than traditional Scottish house built of stone. It has these crazy narrow passageways and the doorway is at least half my size. Everything is made of stone including floors of the separate levels. Last we went to the
Gearrannan Blackhouse Village is a group of traditional Scottish houses made of stone with thatched rooves. On of the buildings is a giftshop and cafe, another is a museum showing how homes were traditionally arranged, and a few buildings are hostels. We spent most of our time down by the water and in the cafe drinking tea to warm up. The drive back was long and all I want to do is sleep but it is only 8 p.m. here.
