Woke up and saw in front of my face a hair next to my pillow that was not mine. Yum. Showered before anyone was up and had a bowl of all five kinds of cereal combined while looking out at hillsides and water...literally yum. Allison, Ashley, and Grace went out to explore down to the pier and then walked along the waterfront where we saw Murdo, the man that boated us over to Harris. He was in a wet suit ready to dive for scallops, so we asked to take a picture with him and his boat helper Ross as part of Grace's photo project. We ended up climbing and crawling out across the seaweed covered rock that was exposed by the low tide and found bones, creatures, and a baby seagull. When we got back we ate lunch and headed out on a day trip to Stornoway. On the way there we stopped at one of the many beautiful beaches we saw from the road. The beach and water look like those of a caribbean island. The water was so clear and blue- the sand was fine and white. One sad thing, the water feels like a Minnesotan lake in April. We almost left some sillies from our group while on a pee stop because they were late and so they ran out of the tea room without paying....were chased after by one of the workers for their bill. In Stornoway we did some shopping for wool and tweed items. I bought a tea towel with a map of Scotland on it:) Drove back and made dinner again: chicken lo mein, and then met up with Ross from earlier and his friend James so Grace could do her interview and portrait. He ended up being late and we lost the sunlight she needed because the sun had set. So we sat and chatted with them about accents, movies, music, families, school, etc. Learned a few things and practiced our accent and some Gaelic. So this entire trip we have been counting how many times we trip, starting in Glasgow because the sidewalks are very uneven, and I was at 3, Allison: 1, Grace: 1, and Ashley:7 as of today and no one had fallen. Leaving our chats tonight I walked out into the dark and decided (of course) to start running before my eyes adjusted to the dark and running tripped and fell right off of a curb. I guess I win/lose. Hopefully my knee doesn't hurt tomorrow, pinkies crossed.
