We have just spent a lovely week at Taupo. The weather has been really hot and sunny. Neil joined us on 3 Jan after spending a week in the South Island walking in Arthurs Pass. His friends Joe and
Gillian stopped and had a meal with us on their way back to Auckland.
Adrienne and Ian, who live in Taupo, have really spoilt us this week - we have been to their house several evenings for dinner and even cooked the trout that Neil and Mike caught. We spent a
lovely morning out on Lake Taupo fishing on Saturday. Friday evening about 20 of us went on a river trip up to Huka Falls. Everyone took a plate of food and the boat stopped at the bottom of the
falls whilst we had our picnic. It was a perfect evening.
We went to Aratiatia Hyrdo Dam to see the water being released. It was amazing to see this happen and watch the rocks disappearing. We also visited a thermal park - it was good to see this in dry
conditions as when we were in N.Z. last time we visited Rotarua and it was raining.
We returned to Auckland on Monday via Rotarua as Neil wanted to have a good on the Sweeb. We explain what that is later. We also called at Cambridge and had coffee with some more of S & M's
friends.
Tuesday evening we all went up the Auckland Sky Tower to the Orbit restaurant for dinner as this was Neil's last night before he flew off to Singapore.
