Yes, we are back home. We arrived last night having had a really good flight from Hong Kong.
We had a great time in Hong Kong in spite of the weather being cold. The hotel was excellent and we had great views from our window of Kowloon Park and across to the waterfront. We really enjoyed the trips we took. On Saturday we went over to Hong Kong Island visiting Victoria Peak, Stanley Market and a trip around Aberdeen Harbour. Monday we spent the day on Lantau Island and saw the Big Bhudda. We had a Chinese Vegetarian lunch at the Monastry which was really tasty and then rode on the cable way for 5.7 km. Unfortunately the weather deteriorated with low cloud and we could not see very much on the trip down from the mountain. On Wednesday we took a trip to the New Terrorities which included a visit to the look out to see into mainland China. We also visited a walled village and a Wishing Tree before visiting a jewellery factory where they made the most expensive beautiful jewellery.
The markets in Kowloon were amazing. We went to the Ladies Market, Bowring Street and Temple Street Markets and enjoyed ourselves bartering. All too soon our holiday in Hong Kong was over. It was great to see the celebrations for the Chinese New Year - all the Lion and Dragon dances were amazing. We also went down to the waterfront to watch the Symphony of Lights - a free sound and laser light show that happens every evening at 8pm.
We arrived home Friday evening about 7pm. Neil met us off the train at Grantham which was a real help.
We had a great holiday - now have the big job of sorting through the hundreds of photos and video footage we have taken whilst we have been away.
