This morning was another early start so we could get the bus to Florence for another overnight stop before Cinque Terra. The drive wasn't too bad at all! We had a stop at a little Tuscan town called Orvieto where we had brunch and wondered this cute town for an hour, visiting the amazing cathedral.
We arrived into Florence just after lunch and went straight to the pool where we spent the afternoon relaxing before wondering the streets of Florence (with a tad of shopping by me) before having dinner at an authentic Florentine restaurant. We then discovered the BEST gelato shop ever!!! It was more of sorbet like gelato but homemade and so delicious mmmmm! I was tempted to go in and ask for a taste tester of all the flavours but Brett dragged me away before I had a chance :(
Finally Cinque Terra had arrived and we were bouncing off the walls to get there! We've heard some great things about this place and after a short stop in crappy Pisa we finally arrived in Cinque and we can say it has definitely lived up to our expectations!! Cinque Terrra is a coastline in Northern Italy and is made up of five small coastal villages - Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza (where we're staying) and Monterosso. Vernazza is quite a small little fishing village with one main road where the buildings are built up around it.
After finding our little hotel up a little side street and top of a hill we were amazed at how beautiful it was and we had an ocean view room as well, we were cheering!!! This was the best hotel so far and we loved it! After and afternoon of swimming I had a beautiful seafood dinner (Brett had a pizza) on our private terrace overlooking the ocean and watching the sunset, it was a perfect ending to our first day in this beautiful place!
