BradnDad2014
Planning for a reasonably early start on Sunday saw us come undone from the start...
Still snoozing at 10.00am made for a very late start to our day.
Finally engaging gear in Ethel about 11.30 and using our sparkling new GPS to find our way through SF, we headed off.
Hertz wanted to charge us $18.00 / day for one of their "never lost" units. We found out the fun way in Italy that "never lost" is not a very accurate description for the system.
Brad doing what he does, found us a Garmin system for $94.00 from Best Buy... Job done !
If anyone is coming to the US in the future, you're more than welcome to use Gertrude as your guide...
Gertrude took us directly to a free parking area right on the Wharf District.. You bewdy !
We headed off for a wander around, noticing that Alcatraz was fully booked until the 21st of April, but also confident in our plan for standby tickets on Monday.
I enjoyed a Clam Chowder in Sourdough Fisherman's Grotto while Brad snacked on fries...
Curious, I questioned him on his less than great dietary intake thus far. I found that he is trying to put on 2.5kg over the next couple of weeks... Turns out, you need to be a minimum of 45kg to ride a Segway and he only comes in at 42.5kg at present... With the amount of walking we are doing, he'll be lucky if he can maintain 42.5...
It was a very laid back day with a bit of cheap retail therapy that included more silly hats and cool sunnies, Elmo, pimped out cars, an antique amusement parlour, sea lions and amazing street performers.
Not sure if it's just me, but the seagulls here seem to be on steroids ! They stand about 600mm tall and would not look out of place as a roast dinner.
We jumped on the hop on/off bus for a tour of another part of the city and finally ended up back at the wharf. Jumping in Ethel and setting the on board video, we managed to do a ****** video of a Golden Gate Bridge crossing (stay tuned for the video).
Home and feet up for the evening as we had an early start on Monday... :)

Jo I was talking to Sandra about the seagulls in USA and she remembers them being very large as well! No wonder she is terrified of them these days. They were so big they would kick sand in your face while you're on the beach. Lucky it's winter there now. Oh and don't seals smell.......Urghhh
