BradnDad2014
Up early to meet our hotel transfer at 7.40am...
Unsure of what to expect at the scenic tour airport and running a little behind, I decided we would drop into a restaurant at Caesars for a quick breakfast. They did a great job of getting our food out in about 10 minutes, but the $60.00 bill hurt...
On the coach and 30 minutes later we were at a great little private airport (full breakfast available for $4.95) with about 50 other people, all excited about our trip..
After the usual checks we jumped on a 15 seat plane for the 1 hour trip out to the Grand Canyon.
Unfortunately, Brad suffers from the same affliction as his Mother.. Put him on a small aircraft or bus and he is asleep within minutes, truly, we had only just got to cruising altitude and he was off...
The flight out to the GC was fantastic. Flying over the Hoover Dam was quite a sight. There is enough concrete in the damn wall to pave a two lane highway from coast to coast across the USA...
Once in the City of Grand Canyon (yep, it's a City), we were transferred to a Bell 206 helicopter for a low level tour of the main canyon area. More than a mile deep, 270 miles long and 18 miles wide between the North and South rims, the Grand Canyon is nothing short of breath taking!!
Seriously, one of the most incredible natural sights I have ever seen. It is listed as one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, and with good reason...
Back at the heliport, we were transferred to the South rim of the canyon for a bit of a touristy native Indian experience, but still very interesting.
Having in excess of 120 photos from the day to go through, there is not a single one that does the canyon justice... I'll put a few on the blog, but it really needs to be seen in real life...
There is a 10 day, end to end canyon rafting trip available... Any takers for 2015 ???
Back on the plane and Brad was off to sleep for the scenic trip back :)
