Wow, Vegas has flown by !
Vegas would have to be the "fleesing" capital of America, it is hard to turn around without putting your hand in your pocket. That said, it is quite a spectacular place, especially for adults. Huge amount of street drinking and everything is geared towards adult entertainment. "The Hangover" would appear pretty true to life..
Will have to come back one day with a big bag of cash and be prepared to party hard ! (Just so long as I'm in bed by 10.00pm of course)
We headed off about 9.00am for the drive back to LA. Hire company's don't like us to return cars to different locations, especially the likes of Eleanor..
Boarding our plane bound for New Orleans about 5.00pm, Brad and I were separated by a few seats. I was fortunate enough to sit next to a couple from LA, Marla and Jonny. Chatting about the peculiarities of Australian culture, we laughed and shared a few beers. By the end of the trip, our Trolley Dolly, Danny was sneaking us free drinks :)
It turns out there is a large Jazz festival on in New Orleans this weekend. (no wonder I had trouble finding accommodation). Get this !! The likes of Eric Clapton, Bruce Springstien, Christina Aguilera, John Fogerty and many many more.... $55.00 / day over 4 days....
Damn it !, If only I had known, I could have easily organised the trip around this event.
Hopefully we can get in on Sunday afternoon and catch Eric Clapton...
Arriving at New Orleans airport, I had arranged a hire car to get us to our hotel. It is about 30 minutes out of town. Originally booking a small car, guess who was just sitting there, with a lonesome look on her face.. "Betty"... Betty is a Black on Black Dodge Challenger !! Oh Yer ;)
Obviously, we had no choice but to accept the exceptional hire offer and take her for the weekend...
Rolling up to our hotel about 1.30am, we were greeted by the friendliest people we have met on the trip thus far. Just loving the Southern drawl... (can't help but mimic them, in the nicest possible way).
After a good nights sleep, we're heading off now for a tour of New Orleans, before sampling some of the legendary food available in the city. This place has a great feel to it... I'll keep you updated :)
