Keeping up with time zones here is a little confusing, we're already on our second and we're not really sure what the time is. However, it's an early start all the same to get our hiking kit from the local outfitters. The reason we need some specialist kit is because we are hiking the Narrows today which is pretty much wading up the Virgin River into a 16 mile slot canyon. By 9am it's already hitting 90 degrees so we know it's going to be a hot one. The shuttle takes us to The Temple of Sinawava at which point we take a paved route along the river for a mile or so and then it's into the water to start our hike up through the Narrows. The river is only knee deep in most places but is fast moving and the stones are slippery underfoot. We trek upriver to Orderville Canyon taking the left fork of the river, the North Fork. We wade another mile or so before deciding to turn back as it's mid afternoon and we need to leave enough time to get back out. As we return we get caught in a massive downpour / flash flood that soaks us all through to the skin. We make our way back to the RV, shower ,change, then out to dinner in Springdale on the free shuttle bus, after returning our hiking gear to the store.
