well, considering me and eddy had such a heavy night, i think we did pretty well to be up at 6:30 for our dive course!!
got picked up at 7:30 and got taken to the Down Under Dive school. met our instructor Heath, and the instructor-in-training Marcus, both seem like fun! had the morning in the classroom watching videos and doing tests, theres so much more to it than i thought, and once you're down there, there really isnt room for mistakes! quite scary! for instance, if you hold your breath at the bottom, you will float upwards, the air in your lungs expands as the pressure decreases and then your lungs explode. game over. learnt about different procedures, hand signals, equipment etc.
in the afternoon we got in the pool and did a few tests, 10 minutes treading water, 10 lengths of the pool, then we kitted up and got used to the dive gear. learnt how to set it up and take it apart, did some shallow underwater skills like taking your mask off and replacing it then clearing it, its the only skill so far i really hate as all the water goes up my nose! twice i just stood up because i just choked, but what scares me is that you cant really do that 18 metres deep!!
when we finished for the day me and ed were completely exhausted, so had a few soft drinks with the swedes downstairs then bed.
