This morning we woke at 6:40am for breakfast, this was the best night's sleep so far, but to be fair I have slept well each night so far. Breakfast was noodles and hotdog which was nice, I also had a cup of the beautiful milo.
On site we were in two teams, one cleared the ground around the bridge and the others pulled the bridge down which took around five hours. We then had lunch which was beef and pineapple which was lovely, followed by a visit to the shops in front of Alfonsos house. Sabrina and I decide to have a cold drink each day as a treat, a drink is around 2 ringgits, and a ringgit is 17p.
This afternoon we moved some very large rocks and tried to remove the bridge posts so we can get the ground ready for the new ones, the cement was very hard to break up with some metal sticks, tomorrow we are hoping to get some chisels and a sledge hammer to make it easier. Worryingly Tommy and Sam were given machete today...
We stopped work at around 4:30pm and sat down to a yummy snack of homemade doughnuts, they're so good! They make loads so most of us had seconds. We relaxed for a while afterwards and watched some local men having a swim in the river and our kids having a good swim.
Tonight's tea was sardines, apparently fish don't have heads or eyes or tails! We managed to get Joe and Sam to both try a fish eye.
After tea I decided to go for a much needed shower, it was raining heavily but the outside area between our room and the shower is covered, while I was in there the rain caused a blackout, which was interesting! Every time we go to about they tell us about the drought they are experiencing, and everywhere we go it rains like this. I had my washing handing out to dry but Sabrina and Ben kindly bought it in for me.
It all went a bit dodgy after that as Sian was plucking the boys eyebrows, even creepier was how much some of the boys enjoyed having their makeup done. Another night of fantastic sleep.
