We did abit of exploring today and decided to visit the Bug Buddha & a mummified monk!
Oh and we had to go and change bikes which hindered things slightly, But James had found a fancier new bike he wanted!
First stop though was the Big Buddha, its not far from our hostel so only took 5 minutes to drive there, but we hadn't visited anything like this for a while so i completely forgot i needed to dress appropriately so the buddha wouldn't judge me.
It was so hot today and so i had to walk around with a waterproof coat on #hothothot
It was pretty cool though, it literally is just a massive buddha, The woman at our hostel had told us we could ring some bells when we were up there to let the Buddha know we had visited…i was definitely getting involved so i grabbed a big bamboo stick and went along every single loud bell and rang it, I hope he was happy i was wearing my waterproof coat too! High Maintenance religion…
After the excitement of the bell ringing it was time to change our bike, so we dropped our old one off and got a taxi to the next place. It was exactly the same bike but brand new and had been modified so it was loud… You van imagine my joy. Oh and the mud guard and been taken off so i was soaking and muddy every time we drive through a puddle, Brilliant! :)
The man offered James a Ducati Monster… I said no :-) But wish i would have said yes now because the mudguard was massive and the seat looked a lot comfier. I do however value my life.
We took our now very loud bike and headed to the mummified monk, on the way we grabbed some lunch at a local restaurant, We ordered a round of Dim Sums and some fried rice and seafood, it was the tastiest yes cheapest meal we've had since being here so will definitely return!
The monk wasn't too far away, luckily because i don't care much for the comfiness of our new bike :/
The monk was weird… Its literally a dead body sat in the lotus position wearing raybans! WTF.
Apparently they put the ray bans on because it looked too scary without them. I just wondered if they were real or fake though?!
There was a live monk there doing blessings aswell and showering people with holy water but i feel the holy water would have burnt me if i had attempted this so i gave it a miss…
We headed back to base quickly after that strange experience then headed back towards the Big Buddha to a place called the sunset cafe, we got there about 5 and the sunset was due about 6 so we had a couple of drinks and set the go pro up on time-lapse to capture it.
The view was amazing, we sat on chairs where our feet literally hung over the side of the building and the beach was infront of us, nothing in the way of our view!
For food we decided to drive to Chewang walking street which is about 15 minutes away, So we tucked into some street food. Crocodile, beef, chicken & prawns + a corn on the cob, the food is awesome and so cheap. I think we know where to eat from now on!
Afterwards we went to meet Josh & his mates at a place called Ark Bar in Chewang, It was pretty cool with loads of beach seats and fire shows! We didn't want to drink too much though as it was the full moon the next day and wasn't to feel a little bit funky fresh at least! So just had a couple. James lost a thumb war with a woman selling flower garlands so i had to buy one… 50 THB later, well done James! :) Then we set a young boy over to Josh so he could buy some lovely glow in the dark glasses hahaaa! He did… which surprised us! But then the boy ended up coming over to me and giving me some free glasses and a kiss! Bless him! Although i really didn't want the glasses especially as they snapped later on and got in my hair.. :/
