Hideeho! Why is it that we feel so patriotic as soon as we leave our own country! This includes things like giving up favourite music such as Pink, Gnarls Barkley and James Blunt in favour of songs like 'I still call Australia home', 'Waltzing Matilda' and of course we can't forget the old 'I come from the land down under'. Then there's the continually 'hoping' to hear another Aussie accent when out and about! I'm not sure what is sadder, singing Waltzing Matilda over and over or sitting here feeling some kind of connection to the K-Mart docket that is still in my wallet from Christmas! (Seriously I just can't bring myself to throw it out)I won't even mention the little happy dance that I did in the supermarket when I looked up and spotted a jar of vegemite! Before we left we heard that the English like Aussie's (well all except for the lady at the insurance company that Brian had an argument with yesterday) but that we should wear 'something Australian' pinned to our clothes to identify our nationality, personally I thought this was a bit tacky ….flags are much easier to carry and Emilee really doesn't mind dressing up as a Kangaroo!Speaking of Aussie's, Andrew (Brian's brother) came and had the weekend with us last weekend which was nice as we hadn't seen him since he left Oz 2.5 years ago. He seems to very happy here and loves his new job as charge nurse in a hospital in Manchester. It was great to catch up after he laughed at us and told us how Australian we sounded, lol, funny that Andrew! Ohhh another Aussie that has crossed over to the dark side…I'm not sure if I had mentioned in a previous blog that the Taylah had joined a trampoline club, Caitlyn also joined 2 weeks ago and they both really enjoy going. Last week Brian was approached by the coach saying that he was really impressed with the girls ability and asked how long they had been doing gymnastics for in Australia, Brian said the coach was shocked when he told him they had never done a day of gymnastics, any ability they had was from spending hours jumping on the trampoline at home and climbing the clothes line from the day they were born (much to Kylies horror, lol).Anyway he has asked for permission to enter both girls into what they call the national championships here, he seems to think they are ready now and would also like to train them intensively for future competitions…Oh my goodness could this mean green and gold one day! It's quite obvious they both get their ability from me; I just wish Brian would accept this and move on! Ha HaThe weather here has been up and down with temps varying from 3-5 degrees and we did get a small amount of snow on Friday night which the kids were very excited about. Emilee was in heaven as she ran around the backyard in a top and undies (I think she was too excited to realize how cold it actually was) yelling at the top of her voice 'It's snowing everybody, It's snowing'…I'm not sure how many villages heard her!The days are defiantly getting longer and it hasn't been getting dark until about 4.30pm, I'm sure it will be lovely here in summer.Brian and I had a lovely night out last night with about 30 staff members from his school, we went to a nice Indian place in Wolverhampton ( where he works) and had a curry or as the English say a coory and only managed to get lost once, they have what they call ring roads here and well as the name suggests we kept going around in circles, it was only after we passed the 'Welcome to Wolverhampton' sign three times that I realized it was the same sign, lol and here I was thinking how welcoming the city of Wolverhampton was….Oh and Ipromised Brian that I wouldn't mention the part where we ended up on the tram tracks, hee hee! It's a shame he didn't see the funny side when I started yelling 'all aboard'…I have taken some pics of the house this time and posted them with this blog (requested by mum) so that you can see where we are living…I guess for Nigel and Juliet it will feel strange looking at their own home via pics (Nigel & Juliet, It may look a little bare but the rumours about us selling your furniture on e-bay to finance our holiday to Italy are totally untrue, ok)
Oh and mum, I found this place called 'The wine warehouse' which is huge…I was kind of thinking that you and Colleen (Kylies mum) may want to just chuck a sleeping bag on the floor there when you get here in July, lol, just joking…but I will take you there to visit! Well that's if you feel safe enough to get in the car with me, we were out driving the other day and Josh was asking me what all the different traffic signs meant, I really have no idea I said…I just drive, he said that suddenly he didn't feel very safe with me anymore…I don't know why!?!?
Well it's almost what they call mid term holidays here and that means that the kids and Brian get a week off school go back for another 5 and then it's the 2 week school holidays. Brian and I have decided to head towards Wales and have a look around and Josh is heading off to France for a week of skiing/snow boarding, he has made heaps of friends here and was invited to go away with a family to help celebrate their sons birthday...I think I'm looking for friends in all the wrong places!?!
Well I guess that about wraps up another blog from the happy Huntingtons here in the UK...now could also be a great time to mention that I have started belly dancing classes, yep every Thursday I go and shake what god gave me, well him and a little help from Mr Cadbury...hope that leaves you smiling Watch this space…Cheers,Dee xx
