OOHH my, friends and family, oh my!
We have had quite the busy day (night? who knows, who cares..) After our mighty boring blog yesterday, we managed to fill our time quite well! We found a movie theatre and went to see Music and Lyrics.. Can we just say that said film is possibly the worst ever made? Brimming with cliches, cringey plot lines and bad acting. Other than that, a joy to watch.
After eating a little dinner (salad, we're a healthy bunch)and such like, we made our way to the Greyhound Station via a very talkative cab driver who looked, according to Char, a bit like John Lennon and used the following word: ANTAGONISTICAL. (antagonising does for us, but hey ho..) we arrived at the station and waited in the queue for aaageees for the bus. This in itself was a very sureal experience...It was 11 o clock at night, we had spitty mc spitterson the tramp on one side of us, another with sunglasses who taked to himself in a very strange voice, and lots of Mexicans. Once on the bus, the situation didn't improve..We were, shall we say, in the minority, not being hispanic. Char and Laura had two chirpy specimins behind them, who insisted on bringing burritos in for the ride, which stunk up the bus from the word go, and would not stop taking flash photos, nattering on their phones in Char's ear (she gets all the worst luck!) and kicking the back of our seats. Char had to have some strong words at one point, and upon seeing ANGRY Char, shut up!
A few fast food stops and a couple of hours sleep later (the journey took around 7.5 hours), we were deposited in North Hollywood in the smallest, most depressing little bus stop in all of America. An hour after THAT, we boarded another bus to get to Hollywood. Once in Hollywood (literally 15 mins later), we thought we were laughing...How wrong we were...A trip down the escalator to the metro station, a chat with a very very southern lady for directions, back up the escalators, across the road, a long wait, an even longer bus journey to some god forsaken road in the middle of nowhere, another crossing of the road, a missing of a bus and then another long wait, followed by a 40 minute bus journey to 2nd Avenue in Santa Monica, and we were FINALLY at the HI Hostel where we had booked 2 nights accommodation...this was 11 am...check in time is 2...
My, we have done sime time killing this holiday...Too tired to even contemplate sightseeing or the like, we positioned ourselves in front of the Hostel's tv and waited..and waited...for 2 o clock...
After a quick supermarket stop (they actually sell this stuff called food here?!) to pick up some salad bits for dinner (see? We are good..) we were able to check in only to find a weird girl asleep in our room...(don't worry, it's a shared room so it wasn't entirely unexpected...)
We have just finished eating our din dins (the kitchen here is MASSIVE! It's like masterchef...if any of us could cook maybe we could actually recreate the show..) maybe not... and have just put some laundry on (what a laugh...we had to ask another of our room dwellers, a yoga loving mature student who smells of coffee, what to wash with what) and they should be sufficiently shrunk by now, so we should be making tracks!
Love to everyone, and no, Meg, Laura hasn't lost anything yet! TOUCH WOOD TOUCH WOOD AAAAHHHHH hehe
