So I guess it's time for another update from the past few weeks.
I've been working a lot with my museum communication group on our future museum exhibit on the Greeks. It has started off kinda rough. However, it is getting better. We had some problems in the beginning with our project manager. I think she has not had a whole lot of experience in serious leadership roles. So at first she came off rather abrasive and didn't seem to be listening to us. Eventually it came to a head last week when the second meeting that week had the room so tense you could feel the bomb about to drop. So i discussed it with one of the girls in our group that's from Canada and we both agreed things needed to change soon or the rest of the year would drag by. I decieded when i got home later that day to e-mail our group leader and express what many in the group had been thinking w/o naming names. I offered a suggestion to go to the pub afterwards and loosen up over a few drinks and some british food and get to know eachother again without killing oneanother. Turned out when she replied to it, she was very nice and responsive to my suggestions and comments. So the next day things seemed alot better and all but 2 of the group went to the pub and had a pretty good time. Since then our meetings have been much better, and I like most of the ppl in the group incld. the project manager! We had our proposal to the staff for our idea which we changed in our very last meeting. The staff seemed to all like it and gave good feedback. Our title and theme is "Once Upon A Time... :Storytelling in Ancient Greece". Myself and another Scot will be working on the design and catalogue for the exhibition.
So onto the next thing. MY CAT. Oh the horrors of moving one's pet accross the ocean! I could tell you all the troubles, misinformation, and out right lies i've had to deal with over the past 2 months, but that would take far more time than I'm willing to spend on it. However, through all the headaches and frustrations it looks as if its finally going to happen. I spoke to my brother and my mom tonight and she's gone to the vet for the last time, the airline has her reservation, and i've had all the authorities dealing with her here notified and faxed her paperwork over. So tomorrow afternoon she'll be getting on a plane to come see me! I couldn't be happier too! With everything i've had to go through to get her here I decieded that maybe it was so I would know it all and know the best way to get the info out there to everyone. So i created a WikiHow page detailing absolutely everything it takes to get a pet from the US to the UK and then some. So at least maybe in the future someone else can benefit from my troubles and gain from the info it provided. Here is the article for anyone who's interested:

So on to funny stories. Do I have any? Sort of, I've noticed lately that Ally and Xander pick on me A LOT! I brought it up a couple nights ago and just then Debbie came in and i told the two of them someday soon I'd be gone and then who would they pick on? Debbie can't be there all the time, they'd miss me and be sorry for it. I doubt that's really true, but it amused everyone nonetheless. Tonight i was making dinner in the kitchen and Ally noticed the plate of biscuits in the corner i had baked earlier for breakfast. Now keeping in mind, biscuits here mean cookies, and breakfast biscuits are non-existant. He asked if they were more snacks, and i tried to explain the concept of a breakfast biscuit, and shocked him when i said it was usually served with gravy, sausage, and eggs. Apparently gravy here is like beef stew kind of gravy. He tried it and seemed to meet approval.
We all watched Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure tonight, and made fun of it. I love the 80s...
Thanksgiving is coming up soon in the states and Ally suggested we celebrate it here (he's just in it for the food). So Xander and Debbie and Ally will apparently get to experience Thanksgiving, although Ally's unsure what we're giving thanks to... Oh I also tried to explain the concept of beet sauce, only now realizing i was thinking of cranberry sauce. It didn't go over so well, but neither did his explanation of what a crumpit consists of...
Recently the lady who picks me up on the way to school w/her husband has been asking what I'll be doing for christmas. I knew she was going to eventually ask me to join her family. Sure enough she did. I tried to tell her that it is a family thing, and that i'd hate to interrupt that. So i eventually just had to tell her I'd think about it. Then this weekend Debbie asked me what I was doing for Christmas too. I told her i'd be here, and she and Ally flipped out. So if I do not join Joanna's family, Debbie or Ally will force me to go to theirs. Not that christmas in a british house or in Scotland doesn't sound great, its just odd sharing it w/ppl you don't know...
On another household note, I'm making plans for Debbie, Xander and Ally to go horseback riding in the Lake District. Xander loves it there and is always going, he's going there this weekend in fact for some kind of extreme sports/rock climbing film festival. Xander's climbed and backpacked all over the world, so this is like christmas coming early for him...
So lastly, I went to the museum I am working at as part of my course last weekend. I knew they were planning on us being in costume in the next few weeks. However when i got there I went straight to wardrobe. Unfortunately it wasn't quite what I had in mind, and later on it was quite cold walking outside in it. I shadowed the woman in charge of the town's exhibits and then cleaned artifacts with her later in front of the public. Its not as glamorous as it sounds... Here's the website of the museum:

So that's about it. Tomorrow i'm cleaning the house for the arrival of my kitty and then the following day I get up at 5am to take the train down to London to pick her up, and then come back and celebrate! Undoubtedly I'll end up watching x-factor at some point...
