Walking up bright and early, (Melita is dead to the world) I head down the breakfast, and to my joy there is TOAST, a simple joy but something I have been missing dearly - if I see ham/cheese/bread anytime soon I may scream, you can tell Aussies are running this place as they cook up a big batch of bacon & eggs for us to enjoy. Because of the late hour we arrived the night before, a couple of us set off to explore the town - its very charming and would be a great place to spend some time.
For lunch we decide to walk to the local trout farm and have a go at catching something to eat! For 8.50 euro this was not only the best entertainment but also a great meal! I was the first to catch a fish within our little group (quietly pleased), the trout were not interested in the corn but once we switched to maggots it was a whole another story - the poor gentleman who provided our rods, and kindly killed the fish was less than impressed with our word/name for this bug - I agree with him, maggot is not a pretty word.
Once all the ladies had caught a fish - with many screams of excitement and madly winding in the line, we settle with a drink and wait for our lunch - from pond to plate, it was a fantastic way to spend the day.
This afternoon it is paragliding! I am beyond nervous but am committed to having a go - as everyone keeps telling me "when in Austria". We are shuttled up the mounting side, and are soon heading up in a cable car to the top - the guy I am paragliding with is James and he reckons he has the best job in the world - I think he could be right. As we get closer to the top I am desperately trying not to look down - it is a LONG way, and as we head to our launching point it is explained to me that I will have to run off the mountainside - I am told not to worry its ONLY till the chute opens. My stomach has dropped like a stone, when I look at James and I look at me, it's like looking at a tree - how are we going to run strapped together when one of his legs is my whole body!
James has faith and has me strapped into the harness before my nerves can get too far ahead, he counts to 3 and tells me to run - PANIC, but it happens, I take 4 steps and I can touch the ground - James is yelling to keep running but I can't reach the ground - lucky our parachute opens and we are off! It is incredibly and I am glad I did it, I got some amazing photos, and was even allowed to "drive" it, I was enjoying myself till James decided to show me what a roller coast meant - where they spin you in tight circles and you do loop de loop - my god, I am sure he is now deaf! What a day - brilliant!
