Hello from mission beach where we have arrived to do the dreaded '14,000 foot sky dive', arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
We found a pretty cheap hostel and were thinking about going out when we were told that the 'jump' would take place at 8 in the morning so we decided to have an early night. Non of us got much sleep though due to the fact that we were all thinking this could be our last night on the planet!
We got up at 7, had our final shower, brushed our teeth for the final time and headed off to the parachute centre to commit suicide. We met the guys who were hopefully going to get us back down to earth in one piece and had a safety briefing which lasted a whole 5 minutes. During this time we were being filmed for the dvd and were made to look idiots as we sat in our 'flight' positions. My instructor, Glenn, then took me outside to do a little speech about what was happening and how I was feeling. All the boys had our own funny ideas about what we were going to say the night before but when it came down to it nothing we had planned came out (apart from some brown stuff ) and we all just answered the questions they asked without adding our own humour to it. We finished that then headed to the plane. As luck would have it, I finished my speech first so I got the choice of when I wanted to dive out and I chose third.
As the plane was going up, my panic was turning into excitement which was probably because the instructors were joking around, trying to put us at ease. We had the camera stuck in our faces a few more times before the pilot shouted "2 miles to go". James and Miller were 1 and 2 to jump out and were looking a little nervous, especially when the pilot shouted "1 mile to go" which meant we only had about 30 seconds before we were being thrown out. We said our final prayers before the pilot shouted "all out". At this point, James was launched out, swiftly followed by Miller then next up was me. You can't imagine what it looks like, looking down from 14,000 feet. Just as I was taking in the view, I was launched out and was flying towards the earth between 170 - 200 kph  and didn't know what was going on for the first few seconds. I then burst out into a smile and realised it wasn't that bad, screaming along the way with my face being blown about the place, looking like a soggy cabbage. After 60 seconds of freefall, Glenn pulled the rip cord and happily for me, the parachute came out. He then took us spinning around before handing the chute over to me for a little fly where he showed me how to spin it. After that we glided down before landing on the beach and without having a moment to take it all in, the camera was pushed in my face where he began to ask me what I thought about it.
Once everyone had landed, we headed off back to the hostel where we had a good laugh at each other before setting off up the coast to Cairns. Once in Cairns, we picked up our dvds and headed off to the internet cafe to watch them. With mine, I thought it would be more embarrassing than it actually was because I looked calm and cool (even though I didn't feel it) unlike some of the other guys who looked like they had sticks up their backsides (no names mentioned, watch the dvds). On James' dvd, it looked like his ear was coming off, on Millers his lip was upto his nose and he looked like a chipmunk, my face like I said before was like a soggy cabbage and Dave, the 4th out was just crying all the way down . It was so funny watching each others dvds and the guys who put them together did an quality job!
Overall the experience was AWESOME and I would definately do it again (even though I said in the dvd after that I wouldn't ).
Next stop on the journey is Cairns which is just a party town from what we've heard from other people so its 1 last week of partying before reality kicks in and we have to get down to sydney to get a job, nooooooooooooooo.
So for now, its goodbyeeeeeeeee from Mission Beach
